Unbreakable Bond

Chapter 5

As Darren and Aria drives into the night heading towards the Florida Army National Guard Base in St. Augustine, the hours have caught up to them and its time to eat and rest for the night. There's a fast food restaurant on the corner Aria spotted.

" There's something", she said pointing to the Chick Fil A. They stop to get food, then drive ten minutes to the nearest hotel which was the Marriott. Get two rooms and turn in.

As Aria is getting ready to lie down for the night she receive this weird energy she cannot shake. She knows something is off. She goes over all the events that has taking place in the last couple of days.Who took Paige and why? Who is this doctor person and why do they  want me? Who is that Kat girl? Grace, who is that? Why would my grandmother not tell us about her. She thinks about her mother and father for the rest of the night to help her sleep. Those days were so simple and fun. Just she and Paige competing in everything they did. Their mother making them cookies and lemonade or ice tea for the spring and summer days. Then cocoa and tea for the winter days. They were rarely sick, Aria couldn't recall the last time she was sick. Their father would read to them as their mother made dinner. Most times he wasn't home because he was working. 

"I have to make sure you girls have everything you will ever want", he would always tell them when he was leaving out each morning because Paige would cry. Of all the things she remember, she doesn't remember having another sister.

Three amethyst necklaces, her grandmother said belong to she and her sisters. Aria got out of the bed and went into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Her necklace began to glow, she looks down at it as her grandmother appears in the mirror.

"My sweet brilliant child" she said.

"What the-", she was cut off by her grandmother's spirit, twisting her nose up at her with disgust.

"How dare you speak that way at me? Have you lost your mind child?" Cora asked.

"I was in shock grandmother. I wouldn't ever disrespect you", Aria said as she collected herself. Even as a spirit her grandmother did not play. Disrespect was never tolerated when she was growing up.

"Oh my look how you've grown". She said then continued, "You are more beautiful than I can remember. I can see the power in you my child. Have you gotten my note? You need to find your sisters".

"Grandmother how am I the one to do that if I don't even know about a third sister? I have only been looking for Paige? How did you know she would be missing and not prepare me with this?" She asked her grandmother looking confused, sad and unsure of herself.

Cora simply smiled at her stating, "You are much like me Aria and there is no way I could have prepared you without tampering with the future. This was something you have to do on your own sweetheart".

"I have a family I need to get back to. I cannot-", her grandmother cut her off once again.

"Aria get yourself together. There isn't much time sweetie. You must find your sisters. Now allow the amethyst to guide your mind and help you. No matter what happens do not fight the power. Allow your magic to take over". Cora said as she sees her granddaughter power is much strong but has been diluted and something is blocking her magic.

"Yes grandmother", was all she said, as she closed her eyes and breathe in slowly. After a few minutes, nothing happened. She peeked to see if her grandmother was still there.

"Close them again child and focus. Your magic is blocked. Focus on breaking the barrier of a spell. Remember what I taught you", she said watching her.

Aria tried again, focusing on the necklace to guide her and chanted the spell to break the barrier. She would never forget spells, they used to be her favorite thing to do. Over and over chanting the spell and finally broke the barrier and all her magic was returning to her. She looked at her grandmother with fear in her eyes.

 "Don't fight it my child, embrace it and allow it to guide you, for you are the only one who can possess so much at one time".

Cora was now fading, which made Aria go into a panic. "Grandmother please don't leave me. Please I need you" she screamed trying to pull her grandmother from the mirror. It was no hope as Cora was gone. Her last words were audible and Aria didn't not hear it. The amethyst necklace had stopped glowing and Aria is now on the floor crying. After a few moments she hear crush coming from the room beside her.

 "Darren" she said as she jumped up going towards his room.

Darren is sitting at the desk in his hotel room going through the maps and documents to find where Paige could be. There symbols of all kinds but most are the same, which is the Society symbol. No one has ever made it back from the Society Facility alive, he thought. He is thinking of a plan to get there without being seen but Aria's powers were barely working. He know she can get him in and out. He doesn't know what the problem is or much about having powers but whatever she need of him he will do it. Just as he was tidying up and ready to rest there was a knock on the door. He walks toward it, before he can ask who is at the door, in walks Kat.

"Hi Darren. What a long time its been", she said as she walks toward him.

Darren step back saying, "Not long enough".

"Ohh don't be that way handsome. You and I could have been something you know." she stated as she touched his face.

"You must have lost your mind", he said slapping her hand away and looking at her with disgust.

Kat did not like that at all. "Where is she?" she yelled, looking at him like she wanted to throwing him at the wall.

"I don't-"

She cut him off. "No time for games Darren. Now tell me where she is. I know she's with you", she said smirking .

"She's not. I don't know who you are talking about". Darren said making sure he was clueless to whom she spoke of.

"Ohhh Darren I would hate to hurt you. So please be a good little human-"

Darren cut her off with is laugh."You think if I knew anything I would tell you? You are crazy and delusional", he said still laughing.

Kat grabbed him by his neck, lifted him off the ground saying, "You must think I won't kill you. Darren I WILL".

"Do it then", he said calling her bluff.

Kat threw Darren into the wall across the room. She was done with his back talk and lack of information. The laughing made it worst but she tried to restrain herself from doing anything irrational. If he thought she really needed him to find Aria he was sadly mistaken. She knew Aria was there and would find her. Darren gets to his feet after a minute has passed and Kat is looking at the documents and maps that Darren had laying out. 

As he grab his gun and point it at her head, her partner enters the room saying, "What is taking so lo...", he stops as he see Darren about to pull the trigger.

 He step in front of Kat at the same time Darren shoots. The bullet hits the man and bounces off his chest. He smiles and walk to Darren, punch him in the face then throws him into the wall on the other side of the room. Darren falls on top of the side table then hits the floor. Kat turns around laughing, at the same moment Aria walks through the wall calling for Darren. She immediately stops when she see the scene before her. Kat smiles and Aria looks to her left and see Darren unconscious on the floor.

"Well hello dear", Kat saying as she begins to walk to Aria.

"Stay back", Aria said while raising her hand to Kat. There was a force of energy that stopped Kat in her tracks. That made her smirk.

"Oh you my dear, are everything they say you are", Kat responded in the telepathic link from Aria.

Aria just looked at her wondering why her mouth wasn't moving but she could hear her. I cannot possibly hear her without her lips moving, she thought.

"Ohh but you can dear. I'm talking to you now and you need to be coming with me", Kat said as she start to walk again.

Aria put her hand up again. 

"I said stay back". 

A large some of energy flowed from Aria as she sent Kat through the wall and into another room. That got the man she didn't know attention as he was dumbfounded. She looked at him and put his hands up. This was not his fight and he knew that. He was just there incase Kat slipped up. Before she could get to Darren, Kat was coming out the other room with speed and punch Aria in the gut. Aria stumbled back and attacked Kat with a blow to the face then a kick to the stomach as she was sent a few feet back. As Kat recovered she tackled Aria which sent them into Aria's room but went through the wall without breaking it. Aria landed on top of her bed with Kat pounding on her. Giving her blow after blow, while Aria is using her shield force. Suddenly once Aria had enough of the pounding, using the shield to push Kat off her. Kat was sent into the wall but this time she didn't get up so quickly, as she was not expecting that. Aria catch her breath while walking over to Kat, grabs her by the hair and flips her over to her back. Kat is trying to get Aria off her when Aria touch her face.

At that moment a surge of energy was surrounding them. Aria was too busy looking in Kat eyes when she notice the color; one green and one hazel with the blue around the pupil. Same as her mother. Something inside her made her see that Kat wasn't a threat but she didn't know her at all.

"Aria help me please!" Kat desperately said but it wasn't Kat who was calling to her. Aria couldn't understand and thought her mind had made it all up.

Soon as Kat touched Aria hand that was still gripping her face the energy forced them away from each other and both girls flung into opposite sides of the room. Kat recovered first, getting up walking towards Aria. She noticed an amethyst necklace that Aria was wearing. Kat stopped and blinked a few times, shaking her head. Once she was looking back at the figure on the floor she realized it was Aria, ran to her side and called for her.

"Aria! Aria!", she yelled and rocked Aria's head in to her chest. "What have I done. Please wake up". she said with tears in her eyes.

Aria stirred, feeling someone rocking her and opened her eyes. She's looking at Kat like she knew her but from where. She smells of flowers and honey like her mother did. Who is this chick? Aria jumps up, moving away from Kat.

"Who are you?", Aria ask, while looking frighten. "Why were you rocking me like you know me?".

"Aria please calm down. It's ok. We need to talk", Kat said getting up and walking over to her.

Before Kat could get any closer Aria had her shield up and the man that was with Kat walks in.

"Kat get her it's time to go, the doctor has summoned us". He said while looking at the scene. It appears she has slipped after all. He thought.

"I'm not going anywhere with you", Kat yelled running to Aria but bounced off the shield. Kat turned to her saying, "Aria look at me, you know me. Remember!! Please remember".  Aria saw the pleading look on Kat's face and saw a glimpse of her mother. So she lowered the shield, just as she was about to allow Kat to touch her, the man grabbed her and stuck the needle in her neck sedating her. Before she pass out she says "Aria allow the Amethyst to guide you, I'm-", she was gone.

"Another time princess. We have to go. Don't worry we'll be back for you", he said as he put Kat on his shoulder and walked out the room.
