AMARIS’S POV It was just a dream. It was just a dream. It was just a— "We're here, Mis—Amaris." Prudence turned back to me with an embarrassed smile, given her nth slip-up in just one night. "Workers aren’t allowed past this point. The private lounge is right down this hallway." My gaze followed her pointed finger to the large, ornate double doors at the end of what seemed to be the private wing of the Romanov mansion. Guards stood secured at the entrance of the hallway. The dim glow of lamplit sconces cast soft, golden hues across the corridor. If I wasn’t so preoccupied with bigger, more terrifying thoughts, I might have taken my time to bask in the calm of the quiet mansion—the way the moon danced off the polished surfaces was almost ethereal, something out of a fairytale.
