Episode 3: Beets' Condition

The doctor was ready to answer all of Peets' questions even though he was told not to, "ask me whatever it is you want to know" the doctor said to Peets. "I noticed that she wasn't responding to my talks and she didn't really say anything that made sense to me." "I thought she was just joking around as usual" Peets was building up his point. "After seeing what you just did now, I'm starting to get it a little bit, what's wrong with my sister?" He finally landed waiting for the doctor's response.
Mr and Mrs Wood finally decided to come home after nearly three months of being away. As they entered the hospital reception Mr Wood saw a girl crying and shouting so he told his wife to find out which room their kids were staying from the receptionist and he would go see what's wrong with the girl. By the time his wife came back she didn't meet him with the girl, the nurse said he went to the morgue. He came back so spooked and scared, his expression was as if he had seen kthe devil himself. "What's wrong, honey" his wife asked worriedly. "She is now my daughter" that's all he could say as he pointed to the little girl. "This place is hell" he finally got a word out breaking the silent he had initiated. "We're horrible parents" he added.
After explaining why he decided to adopt the girl, he told his wife that it was not nice of them to have disappeared as they did." The couple walked in on Peets, Beets and their doctor, after all the formal greetings the doctor decided to excuse himself. Peets was so relieved to see his parents because even though he asked after them no one told him anything, he thought they had died. Beets on the other hand was as furious as she had ever been. To her it was as if her parents abandoned her and now resent her for what she became. Her anger was justified and both her parents knew that.
Peets didn't know his parents knew about what had happened to Beets so he decided to tell them all he knew. Booman had explained everything that day after the doctor told him about what his sister had become. Since his parents didn't really stick around to hear the whole story, they decided to listen to what their son had to say. "After the doctor came to my ward that day and saw Beets, he communication with her in a way that was rather strange, which then led me to realize something was definitely wrong. I had my suspicions before but what he did opened up my eyes" Peets started narrating what had happened that day.
"The doctor then told me that he was not supposed to tell me what he told me but I was too consumed by my tears. I could hardly answer him anymore" Peets was still telling his story. The doctor thought it would be better to come back before the discussion he was having continued any further. On his way out he met Booman, so he told her what had happened and she thought it would better to address the matter once and for all. As she entered the ward, Peets was still crying, she had to calm him down and comfort him. After all that the story of what happened on the day of the very first Sound Quake on Earth would begin to roll out. "As everyone was running from all the falling debris, Beets got separated from you, she tried to look for you but she couldn't find you" Booman began explaining.
Beets was at the Corex Square, where she was waiting for Peets and his best friend to join her after they had finished playing their football game. As she saw them coming from across the park the floor started shaking immensely. Beets managed to get to her brother and his best friend and they started running together. Things were beginning to look like they would collapse around them and the screams of people filled the air. As they were trying to get away they met Hooman on the way and she took it upon herself that the safety of the kids must be assured. You could loudly hear the rumbling now as it was closing in fast from the east. At this point heat was being felt at an alarming increasing rate. Next was the loud bang, it begun as silent as a whistle and the next thing anyone knew it started increasing also at an even more alarming rate than the heat.
As the kids kept on running, Beets saw a little girl crying on the way and decided to stop and her, in the process she was separated from her brother. A large poll landed between the siblings and they both saw it crush about ten people, as the blood splashed everywhere. She continued to run for her life with the little girl, glasses were breaking everywhere so to protect the little girl, Beets jumped in front of a wave of shattered glass. A little after that, the sound wave from the Quake in it's reduced intensity made it's way to Ukwa, and as it hit, the true rumbling began.
Buildings fell, the grown split open, people were being crushed like bubbles on a bubble wrap, if the sound or building didn't crush you, the people running for their lives would. The sound was so loud, Beets had to cover the little girls ears with her hands while thinking that her ear plugs would save her, how wrong was she. The shattered glass she threw herself in front of managed to injure her a little bit but one piece found its way to her vocal folds and her voice was taken away. The sound from the Quake was so loud it's destroyed her ear drums even though she had ear Plugs on. So the poor girl in all her heroic feats was rendered a Deaf mute.
