Chapter eleven - Embarrassment

Eddy's p.o.v.

I was so nervous that I could feel my hands sweating, for the first time I checked around to see if everything was in its perfect position, I don't know why it bothered me but I didn't want Lisa to have the wrong idea about me.

Thank God I had cleaned the place and to my advantage everything was new in the place and shiny. I saw Lisa look around but could not read any expression from her face, she was one mysterious girl.

"here please seat, aah! Am going to get you a fresh shirt "

She did not reply instead she just looked at me and sat. Jeez! This girl had the cutest eyes I had ever seen.

My mind was a shamble and I didn't know what exactly to do or not to do.

I went and got my favourite white shirt and placed it on my bed neatly. Then I remembered who I was actually dealing with here, I didn't want my actions to be misinterpreted so I took it to the spare bedroom where she could change.

"Lisa, you can just go right ahead and change " I directed her to the room and left.

In the living room I sat, stood, sat again and ended up pacing the floor, I was so nervous.

Should I offer her a drink?

Just then she came out and I could slap myself for staring at her. She looked beautiful, she had cleaned dirt off her face and hands.

"what can I offer you? " I didn't know any other way to make a conversation.

If only Del could see me, he had told me that there was a first time in everything, I guess this was it.

I didn't want her to leave yet although I knew she was getting late and I had promised to take her and explain to her boss. For the record I didn't want to get her into trouble.

"no thanks Eddy, I'm actually so late I'd prefer if I leave now. "

She started towards the door and that's when I remembered I was still in my jogging attire.

" Just give me a sec I'll grab the keys "

I pulled on a black tee and my dark jeans before grabbing the keys. She was already outside waiting for me. I went to my jeep which was actually my father's and opened the passenger's door for her, she stared at me for a second before getting in.

I got in and carefully drove out, the atmosphere was tensed and from the corner of my eye I could see that she was also nervous.

I fumbled with my mind trying to look for something to say.

"so, what time does your shift end? "

Gosh I hope she didn't take that wrong, it was just too late to take it back.

" it ends at 6:00pm"

She said briefly as if she didn't want to keep talking but I wasn't going to loose this chance.

"hey do you mind if I invite you for a cup of coffee later after your shift is done? "

" uu... My.."

"you can take it as an apology for messing you up this morning "

I was even surprised by myself how I ended up looking for excuses to invite a girl out and for what? Just a cup of coffee. Ridiculous! I wanted to drop the probing but something kept pushing me.

" it's alright. "

" great I'll see you after work "

With that I pulled in front of the restaurant and before I could say anything she was already out, I just heard her mumble a thank you.

Just then I heard someone tapping on my window, I lowered it and my eyes met straight up with those of claudia's.

"claudia, what are you doing here? I mean you should have just called me "

" Eddy I've called you like a hundred times but you wouldn't answer my call. And since you've been coming here so often I thought I would check first "

I checked my phone and saw what looked like thirty missed calls.

" am sorry, was a bit busy I didn't check my phone and I must have left it on silent mode"

"it's alright, but you owe me for making me worry"

"sure claudia, I'll keep that in mind "

" so who was that I saw leaving your car? "

" oow it's just a lady I happen to know who was just saying hello "

" do you mind if we.... "

" actually come in I'll take you somewhere we can have breakfast "I had to cut her short since I knew what she wanted to ask, I wouldn't allow her to go in there and let Lisa serve us, although we were not even friends I felt guilty and didn't care if it was her job, she didn't deserve that.

I drove claudia to one of the restaurants that belonged to my uncle, I didn't want her to start bugging me with checking out my place.

I didn't know how long I would hold her back but eventually she was bound to know.

All through my talk with her my mind was on my meeting with Lisa, I listened to her ranting but was so detached, I felt bored and actually made small talk.

I decided to drop by and check out on Del which earned me a rescue from claudia but only with a reminder that I had to show her my place.

I sighed deeply as I dropped her at the shopping mall, and left very first before she changed her mind and decided to come with me.

I rang Del's place several times before a maid opened the door, her name was Nelly since I had been here several times and had gotten to know her better. She talked less but always had a friendly look with a warm smile.

"Hello there Nelly"

"Hello too Eddy, come in"

I entered only to see Del descending from the stairs, he seemed as though he was direct from bed

"really dude? At this hour?

"Don't start with that man, you are not my mother, I can sleep the whole day if I want to. "

" fine dude " I raised my hands in surrender," it's your life, lazy guy " I muttered under my breath

" hey dude watch it I actually heard that "

" Okay Okay are you actually going to invite me to seat down or I can just leave"

"you can actually leave "

with that I scoffed and went and sat on the couch. Del poured us both a glass of juice and sat across where I was.

" so man when am I checking your place out? "

" you and claudia should actually team up" I cursed under my breath

"hey dude don't compare me to that girl, she might be from a rich family and cute but I don't like her even for a bit "

" see who is talking, she's so close to your sister, they are like twins"

"dude you know me and my sister don't agree in alot of things so melissa can actually do whatever she likes am not her Guardian she's also a b***h"

"whoa! Slow down man"

"Don't tell me you are sticking to her, she's no keep man"

"actually I have no option since his father has partnered with my father and am doing this for the sake of the business "

" I feel you Eddy, believe me I do"

With that he burst out laughing

"Actually I just rescued myself from her by dropping here. "

"what about the other waitress girl? "

" which girl man, I don't know what you are talking about "

" Yeah right you don't even have the slightest idea, cut it off dude, for your Information claudia already knows, I heard melissa and her talking about that girl"

"what? When? Why didn't you tell me man? "

" jeez Eddy, it's no big deal, it's not as though you are hitting on that girl, wait! Are you? "

" of course not, but... "

" but what dude? "

" you know how your sister and claudia can be, I don't want them harassing an innocent girl"

"it's her problem man, why should it bother you, let her deal with it"

"you don't understand Del. "

" then make me" he said that standing.

"let me get ready, I won't take long, I want to see this mansion you got yourself "

I laughed at that and nodded for him to go ahead.
