Chapter thirteen - Worth it

Lisa's p.o.v

I woke up from this loud noise that disturbed my sleep, at first I thought it was in my dream until I opened my eyes and found all the lights on and apparently the noise was coming from the TV set, it was cold and I decided to go to my bed but my eyes caught the sight of a guy sleeping on my coach, he still had his shoes on and I just stood there not knowing what to do with him.

I checked the watch and saw it was past midnight, I first thought of waking him up and telling him to leave but then that would be so inhuman and deep down I knew I was better than that.

I knew his presence would bring me more trouble but Perhaps he wasn't that bad as I first thought but still he was a no touching zone, he had a girl and I respected that.

Just then as I was standing there contemplating on what to do next, Eddy turned and curled up more on the coach like a small baby it was evident that the guy was getting cold.

I went to my room and took one of the duvets, it was an old one but in this case I was sure he would appreciate it than sleeping cold.

I removed his shoes slowly and put his legs on the coach then covered him well with the duvet. I switched off the lights and the television and went to my bed , it took me a while to fall asleep well much aware of another person present in my house.

After what seemed like ages I drifted to sleep and didn't wake up in the middle of the night untill I heard a door click, I just turned as I thought I had imagined it.

I was having this nice dream playing with my mother outside our house it was so good that I didn't want to wake up.

Just then the phone started ringing, I tried to ignore it but it went on and on and if I didnt pick it up definitely whoever was on the other side wasn't going to stop.

"Hello.."

"Heeeeeeeey wake up girl its already 10:00am "

"Elvy why are you screaming on the phone and please I can even sleep the whole day if I want so get off the phone"

"Huh...what were you doing the whole night that you have to sleep through the day?"

"Cuddling with Eddy"

"Tell me you're joking girl"

"Nop, am not"

"What's your schedule today?"

"Sleeping, eating, then going back to sleep again"

"You wish, I thought we could go to the park today for some girlfie time, its been a while"

"I'm still not sure I want to leave my bed Elvy"

"Well you'll have to, either you do it willingly or I'll drag you from it myself"

"Okay miss commander, what time?"

"In an hour I'll be at your door, you better be ready"

"But.....Elvy?......Hello?..."

She had already hanged up and so I had no choice but to get up, then I remembered Eddy was still sleeping on my coach, I rushed to my living room only to find it empty, the duvet was well folded and the living room seemed in order.

There was a note on the table:

Lisa,

Hey sorry about yesterday I didn't intend

To sleep on your coach, thanks for not

Throwing me out in the middle of the night.

Here's my number, I would appreciate if

You give me a call.

Eddy.

So the click of the door I had heard wasn't an imagination he had left, I found myself smiling after I read the note, it was so sweet of him to atleast say something.

But still he was a no trending zone, whatever had transpired at the restaurant still left me feeling angry and humiliated but there was nothing I could do. So for my own good I was going to stay away from Eddy.

Just then there was a knock on the door, I wondered who it would be until the knock got louder and I went to open.

"What the hell Elvy, you want to break down my door?"

"Oh my Lisa don't tell me you are not ready yet?"

"What a funny creature, you just called me like 20minutes ago and here you are complaining, did you fly"

"No I crawled"

I laughed loudly at the annoyance on her face until a smile found its way on her lips then she got all serious again.

"What's wrong?"

"Why didn't you tell me what happened to you yesterday?"

"You mean what those girls did? I can take it Elvy"

"Don't give me that i-can-take-it-elvy thing, I will claw their eyes out"

"No need we will only get into more trouble"

"If you say so but still its not okay"

Elvy was always there for me atleast we both knew where we stood, but we still didn't let anyone step on us but in this case it was different, we had to hold our cool for the sake of our job.

"Am giving you five minutes to get ready"

"Watch me"

"Lisa...?"

"Okay, okay "

I went to get ready as Elvy helped me fix the house, then I remembered the two pizza boxes, and the letter, I now had to prepare for an explanation since I knew her well, she was going to drop the questions like bombshells.

"Lisaaaaa....."

Oh my, there, she had already seen it.

I came to the living room tensed.

"Since when did you start keeping things from me"

I tried to feign innocence but she knew me very well.

"I don't know what you are talking about"

"Yes you do Lisa, what's this?" She was holding the letter in her hand .

"Please tell me that guy did not spend the night here"

I stood there silent, watching her serious expression, then she just burst out into pearls of laughter.

"What's funny?"

"Girl you are such a genius, that was a good comeback to that doll-blonde"

"Hey elvy I didn't do anything to spite anyone, Eddy just visited and ended up dozing on the coach I couldn't throw him out in the middle of the night"

"Ooh wow! What a good Samaritan, you guys even ate pizza together I can see you had no option at all."

"Stop it Elvy, that ain't funny at all"

Elvy just stood there shaking her head.

"Am ready"

"So are you going to call him?"

"I don't know, am warning you girl drop the subject"

"Okay miss, but even so......."

"No Elvy, no more Eddy's talk.."

Elvy's p.o.v

I was happy that Lisa was starting to get to like someone even though it was that spoilt brat, if he hurt her I would beat the daylights off him.

But that wasn't the problem, Lisa was, she was one person who did everything to shield herself alot, I was sure she had never been close to a guy and did everything to avoid them.

The park was full, it being on a sunday and so we bought ice cream and sat on one of the benches making small talk, some kids would run to where we were and we would smile to them.

Just then some four girls approached us, one of them was a blonde and I recognised her as Eddy's girl and there was Melissa, while the other two I supposed were their friends.

"Well well see who we have here, the two crawling rats"

"Ooh my I'm sure they must have clinged on some guy to buy them that ice cream"

We just sat there burning with anger as they went back and forth to insult us, and as if we were silently communicating we both stood up and smeared the ice cream on the two, Claudia and Melissa and just walked away.

"You flings this isn't over, gold diggers"

That was Claudia shouting back at us but we just walked away ignoring her, Lisa looked at me and we laughed really hard, sometimes I just felt like we were partners in crime.

"Elvy, but you know they won't stop, they'll hunt us down"

"Then we will fight back"

"You have a point, are you hungry? Lets go grab something"

"Great, just looking at that doll-blonde makes me really hungry"

"Okay miss vampire we better go eat before you eat someone"

I knew this was just the beginning, those girls came from rich families and were capable of anything, but we would be ready for whatever it is they would try.
