Lisa's p.o.v
The night had taken turns i had wanted to avoid in the first place, if only Elvy had listened to me.
That Eddy guy, this was the third time to meet him. I should have known that he was going to be here, this are the kind of parties they attended.
But he was acting so strange that for a moment i had feared what he was up to until that blonde girl i had seen at the restaurant came to reclaim his boyfriend and i had felt like a thief caught in the action, but the moment i had left to get fresh air he had appeared after a short while and i wondered what had transpired between them i thought the girl had said they should dance, i doubt if they had even danced.
But it was non of my business and so i did not talk about it even when he apologized. i took a sip from the glass of champagne he handed me and i felt its burning sensation sooth me as it went down my throat.
This guy Eddy seemed to be more relaxed and for a moment i forgot our first encounter which had been so awful. i started feeling warm with his jacket wrapped around me, it had his scent which made me feel closer to him than i really was. i felt a sudden strange feeling of being closer to him and before i could shake off the thoughts, i looked up from the glass and found him standing near me, he had that look of being tensed in his eyes until i gave him a small smile that i saw it disappear.
"Hey Lisa, i feel like we've already met before, but i don't remember where"
i knew he remembered well where we had met but i decided to remain silent and play along with his act.
"oh well, maybe its at the Elliot's since its where i spend most of my time"
"oh yeah it must be there, anyway we should go inside since there's more to the party"
"yah right and your girlfriend must be looking for you".
i looked away as i slowly removed the jacket to hand it to him, but as i lifted my eyes to look at him, there was no one and i had no choice but to go in with the jacket. i told myself that i would find him before the party ends and give it to him, although i wondered why he would leave without telling me but well he was still that spoiled brat.
i went inside to look for Elvy and i saw her at a corner with Del. they looked so engaged and so i walked to the opposite direction since i didn't want to spoil the moment for her. i knew that she liked Del very much and i respected her feelings although i feared for the ground she was tending of getting so much attached to this guy. i didn't want her to get hurt.
i picked a glass of mango juice from one of the trays and sat at one of the coaches at that corner where i could get a view of everyone in the room. i looked up at the clock on the wall and it read 11:00 pm, the night was sure going to be very long, i closed my eyes and let the music sooth me when i felt someone tap me on the shoulder. i opened my eyes only to meet a tall figure that i was sure i had not seen before.
"hello miss, can i have a seat?"
"sure go ahead"
i moved a little to the far end so as to give him more space but he sat very close to me.
"i'm Jaybe a friend to Melissa and you?"
"u..u.umm my name is Lisa, also a friend."
"ooh great, so Lisa do you mind if i have a dance with you?"
at that moment Jaybe stood up and extended his hand towards me, he had this look of honesty and a friendly smile. i smiled back and accepted his offer at the floor i felt so much at ease with Jaybe and i even found myself singing along to the lyrics.
"hey Lisa do you like singing?" at this moment we were almost shouting since the music was so loud.
"yes i like singing a lot although my voice isn't that good, but i harm along any song that suits my mood at the moment"
"great to hear that, actually i'm a musician you should attend one of my shows one of this days"
"oh sure i would love to, I'll surely come you just give a call and I'll be there"
we continued to talk on other issues like where he lived and i found out that apart from music coincidentally he also attended the same university as i did. i found it so easy to tell him where i stayed and worked and he even promised to pay me a visit.
As it struck midnight i still found myself in the company of Jaybe, he was so interesting and although he was from a rich family like Eddy, i found out that he was so much aware of what went on in the streets and the neighborhood.
Talking of Eddy, i hadn't seen him again and i wondered why he had to pop up in my mind at this moment. i was sure that he was having a lot of fun with his ill mannered girlfriend although it hadn't seem like so earlier.
"Lisa, are you alright? you seem lost"
"i'm okay Jaybe was just listening to the lyrics of the song"
"oh really? liar you must be tired come lets rest on the coach"
"i gave him a slight slap on his face and then he smiled at me" this guy was surely something.
"Melissa is cutting the cake, should i bring you some?"
"No Jaybe i'm fine"
"ooh yeah i see that you are very fine your highness, i'll be back in a minute"
Jaybe left me smiling at his charming character that no girl could resist but just then i heard someone breath at my neck,
"hello Lisa, having fun with Jaybe? you sure look happy"
i knew it was Eddy and his presence made me very uncomfortable, he rounded the coach and came to sit next to me.
"shouldn't you be with your girlfriend now?"
"Lisa you seemed happy a while ago, now you look like you are going to jump out of the window, don't you like me?"
"its not that Eddy, i just don't want any trouble with your girl"
"you have nothing to worry about beautiful one"
At that moment, Jaybe arrived with a plate of cake
"here you go your highne... oh, Eddy whats up man? Its been long"
"yes Jaybe, i'm doing fine..i see you are having a lot of fun here, anyway Lisa enjoy yourself"
with that Eddy left Jaybe wondering what he had done wrong.
"what's with the guy? did i interrupt something? did Eddy sound jealous?"
"forget him Jaybe so what have you got here?"
we ate the cake and continued to sing along the song until it was time to leave, it was already 1:00 pm and i was very exhausted, Jaybe helped us call for a taxi and together with Elvy we bid Jaybe goodbye and left for my house.
