Suddenly, my hangover became the least of my problems. I tried to swallow, but even swallowing was daunting, fearing Arthur would find me there, especially looking the way I did. The first thing that came to mind was to stay still. How on earth would Arthur know there was a woman here, let alone his woman? But then I remembered Ethan's comment about my stupid shoes, which I'd tossed around the house as if they were mine. Luckily, I didn't live with Arthur, so he wouldn't recognize them, and anyway, he was a man. How would he ever know those were my shoes? I tried to think logically. Arthur simply wouldn't know, but seeing them lying around would make it obvious that a woman had been in the house who had spent the night with his brother.
