Logan’s POV “To our loved ones. Forever in our hearts,” Maddy raised her glass and clinked it together with mine as her unique grey eyes shone with sadness. I took a few gulps of my favourite whiskey and revelled in the honey-warm essence and allowed it to glide deliciously down my throat. When I first arrived, I had never felt so uncomfortable in my own home. It was as if everything that belonged here was from another lifetime. I no longer felt a connection to any of it. But now, the awkwardness had dissipated and the effects of the strong liquor were lessening the tension and I was starting to relax.
