The Call

485 Words
As Alex stepped forward, he felt a sudden rush of wind and his surroundings began to change. The world around him seemed to dissolve, replaced by a swirling vortex of colors and shapes. He heard the Guardian's voice calling out to him, but it seemed distant and faint, as though coming from a great distance. Suddenly, everything went dark. Alex felt himself falling through a void, the wind rushing past him as he tumbled through the unknown depths of space. He closed his eyes and braced himself for impact, but to his surprise, he landed on solid ground. When he opened his eyes, he saw that he was standing in a vast, open field. The grass stretched out as far as the eye could see, and the sky above was a deep, rich blue. As he took in his surroundings, Alex realized that this was not just another world, but a place beyond worlds, a place that existed outside of time and space. He looked around, trying to make sense of it all, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something was not quite right. it was then that he noticed a figure approaching him from the distance. As the figure drew closer, Alex realized with a shock that it was his younger self. "What's going on?" Alex asked, his voice echoing in the stillness of the field. "You're dreaming," his younger self replied. "This isn't real." Alex felt a jolt of fear. Was he trapped in some kind of nightmare? "No, it's not a nightmare," his younger self said, as if reading his thoughts. "It's a dream, a journey into your own mind." Alex felt a sense of confusion. What did his own mind have to do with this strange world he found himself in? "You came here because you were ready for the next step," his younger self continued. "You've learned the lessons of the crystal world, and now it's time for you to face your own demons." Alex felt a wave of fear wash over him. He knew that his younger self was right. There were things he had been avoiding, memories and emotions that he had buried deep within himself. "I can't do this," Alex said, his voice shaking. "I'm not ready." "You are," his younger self said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You've always been stronger than you realize. You just need to believe in yourself." With those words, his younger self disappeared, leaving Alex alone in the field. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for what lay ahead. He knew that this would not be easy, that he would have to face the darkest parts of himself. But he also knew that he had come too far to turn back now. With a sense of determination, Alex set out into the unknown, ready to face whatever lay ahead. The journey into his own mind had just begun.
