Alex squared his shoulders, as the shadow figure advanced towards him.
"You can't defeat me," the figure said. "I am a part of you, and I always will be."
But Alex refused to back down. He drew upon the strength and courage that he had built up over his journey, and stood his ground.
"You may be a part of me," he said. "But you do not define me. I am more than my fears and flaws."
With those words, the shadow figure began to shrink, until it disappeared completely, leaving Alex alone in the dreamland.
Alex felt a sense of relief wash over him, as the dreamland began to dissolve around him. He knew that he had faced his own demons, and had come out stronger for it.
He felt a sense of gratitude towards the Guardian, for guiding him on this journey, and towards himself, for having the courage to take it.
As he woke up, back in his own bed, Alex felt a sense of clarity and purpose. He knew that he had found a new sense of direction, and that he would never forget the lessons he had learned on his journey into the another worlds.
