Alex stumbled and fell to the ground, gasping for breath. He had never felt anything like it before. He reached for the crystal around his neck, but it was nowhere to be found. Panic set in as he realized that he had lost the one thing that had allowed him to travel through the different worlds.
As he lay there, trying to catch his breath, a figure appeared before him. It was a tall, imposing figure dressed in black robes. The figure held out a hand, and Alex felt himself being lifted to his feet.
"Who are you?" Alex asked, still catching his breath.
"I am the Keeper of the Crystal," the figure replied. "And you are Alex, the one who has been using the crystal to travel through the different worlds."
Alex nodded, still feeling confused and disoriented.
"I have been watching you, Alex," the Keeper said. "And I have noticed that the crystal has been changing with each journey you make. It has become more powerful, but also more unpredictable."
Alex felt a sinking feeling in his stomach. He had suspected that something was wrong with the crystal, but he had hoped it was just his imagination.
"What do you mean?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly.
"The crystal is becoming more unstable," the Keeper said. "It is no longer safe for you to use it to travel through the different worlds."
Alex felt a surge of anger and frustration. He had come too far to give up now. He couldn't imagine going back to his old life, not after everything he had seen and experienced.
"But what am I supposed to do?" he asked. "Without the crystal, I can't travel to other worlds."
The Keeper sighed. "There is a way to fix the crystal," he said. "But it will not be easy. You must journey to the heart of the crystal, where its power is born. There, you will find the source of its instability and be able to fix it."
