The party was finally over, and I was so relieved to leave. The weight of the evening lifted off my shoulders as we walked out to Axel’s car. He didn’t say a word to me during the ride home, his jaw clenched and eyes focused on the road ahead. The tension radiated off him, making the silence between us feel heavy and uncomfortable.
