So secretly marrying one of the world's wealthiest men doesn't last long.
Luke worked as I slept on the flight to France.
Luke's rush to go to work meant we just had coffee and pastries for breakfast. By the time the aircraft landed, the story of our marriage was spreading, and I knew it would reach my friends soon. Odelia lacked tact.
Luke told us to keep our heads down as we entered his vehicle.
"What?" I said. "Why?"
Luke sighed. "Because," he explained gently, "there are photographers everywhere, and you gave them a beautiful picture of your face."
What? I wasn't happy. Jet lagged from slingshotting to England and back, I didn't know what hour it was.
Luke stated as he went through another email, "We'll be discovered, but do it on your terms." He gave me a cheeky glance. "Do some make up. You may need a haircut."
Luke grabbed my hand as I rubbed my face and hair in distress. Before releasing me, he murmured, "You look great."
"Thanks, Joyce."
We looked at each other until the air between us sizzled.
He broke first and shuffled in his seat, as though uncomfortable. "We need to discuss about living arrangements," he said brusquely.
"What?"
Oh. Right. Should I move in? Crap, I still don’t know his home address.
What if it was a contemporary space with no chairs? But only a s*x dungeon? He needed a dungeon. If it didn't include a s*x dungeon, I'd have to rethink Luke King.
Each minute with him taught me more.
He cursed while checking the screen. "Sorry, Joyce, I must go."
"Sure," I responded, and pretended to study my nails while observing him.
The caller burbled for a time. Luke smiled faintly while on the phone.
He'd tried this method on me, and it worked. The voice burbled again, sounding remorseful.
Luke said "thanks" and hung up before dialing another number. "Keith, I need to talk to Isaac Fox when I arrive. Yes, cancel all the meetings. Unless you messed up, "
he talked slowly and calmly with a calming voice. Then it probably sounded like a bomb. Unpredictable. I'd never heard him shout and he'd only been upset with me privately a few times.
In interviews, he said his parents perished in a vehicle collision when he was young. During the bubble, he flipped properties like pancakes. Real estate money poured into banking and industry, and he was recognized as a guy with no affiliations. Both he and others lacked trust. He just liked cooking.
Luke hung up and smiled. "Am I moving in?"
In the gloomy vehicle, his emerald eyes pierced into mine. The late-autumn sky was dismal and dreary. Even in this light, his eyes shone brilliantly.
I answered, "I dunno." "I don't know your address."
He smirked. "If you want to live apartl, I don't mind as long as we spend the contractual amount of nights together."
I rubbed my nose in circles with my forehead. "Weekly?"
" Ten consecutive days every month. Negotiable."
Luke was a peculiar individual, yet he linked himself to me in a major manner without knowing me.
"I'll move in," I responded. "I need a sculpting space."
His eyes widened at my response. Yes, he replied. "Would you prefer your accommodation as a studio or something closer to... home?"
Hmm. Montpellier studio or studio elsewhere? My own flat.
I said, "I'll keep my flat." "That's cool."
"Good. If you choose, I may pack your belongings for you.
"If you like, tonight."
"Yes, have someone move it."
"What's today's schedule?"
He looked regretful. "I'll be in meetings and at work all day, but I'll be home for supper tonight. In the meanwhile, why don't you explore your new house and contact your new PA?"
PA? Yes! Odelia . “Great. Coffee with girlfriend, supper with..." I clumsily concluded, "You."
I sighed as his eyelids closed.
He said, "Husband."
"Husband" "Sorry, it's awkward and abrupt."
His shoulders loosened as he stroked his temple. I didn't see them tense. He agreed. "That's unexpected. Apologies.”
The automobile slowed down, and we arrived at Luke's home.
Luke dropped me off to the house, told me to explore, and then left for work, leaving me with a damaged luggages. I contacted Odelia and informed her where to meet me—then started exploring.
My dad couldn't afford this in his wildest dreams.
Six different stories, basement. I'm speechless. Huge. Wood flooring, stained glass, a garden, a terrace, and, on the top rank, a master bedroom beneath a skylight flooded with light, even on a gloomy day. Illness. Ill.
It's great. It's awesome.
"Exactly!I told Luke I already had a personal assistant."
" I hadn't checked my email. My phone was practically dead and I'd forgotten my charger at home. I had to switch it on, jot down Odelia's number, then call her from the landline!"
"You're there." She sat at the wrought-iron and glass kitchen table and drank coffee. I watched her from the kitchen.
She said, "Don't worry." "I hacked your f*******: account, made it private, and uploaded a nice snapshot to famous gossip sites."
Odelia looked annoyed. "I didn't want anybody to see that picture of you on the beach wearing a wet bikini beneath your trousers."
I mumbled "Yeah. Why don't you believe you'd make a good PA?
She didn't say she wouldn't be good. "Great. I'm expensive."
"Anyway. I won't discuss with you about the price.
She said "excellent." "Celeb rumor sites speculating about the marriage of the world's sexiest millionaire to a no-name girl. Women despise you, but men find you attractive."
I looked out the window towards the garden. "Something, right?"
Odelia informed me, "You'd better look great when you leave this place, but otherwise, that's not terrible."
I inhaled. "Okay. Right. Not bad."
She sipped coffee. "What makes him tick?" she inquired. "I assumed you wanted his money."
"Well, I did, but that's not the full story."
"He claims it's the finest method to make friends."
Odelia chuckled. He needs a pet.
His interview said that. Dogs are off-limits.
"Ew!" If we'd been back at my flat, I would have thrown a pillow at her. Luke's residence was spotless. No pillow. "Be clean."
"Relax." Odelia smiled
She drank her coffee. She said, "You're into him."
I reclined. I gaped. I laughed.
"No way," I laughed. "He's cool."
"Sizzling. You f**k him, right?"
"I was calmed. Yes. , the s*x was fantastic. Luke King wanted a wife, and he manipulated me to agree. I didn't have a choice, despite his assurances, and it lodged in my throat. "
Odelia shrugged. She said, "luke King isn't the only one with control difficulties." "You want to figure out some way to get back at him for forcing you into marriage."
I responded, "Duh."
She asked, "Why?"
I couldn't answer her. I trailed off. I didn't want to be like my mom, who spent her life in a miserable marriage to a wealthy man who didn't love her, but I am.
Odelia sighingly shotgunned her coffee.
I bit my lip and thought of the amazing s*x we'd had in the limo after the wedding. I thought about Luke's expression when I shocked him and sucked his c**k, leaving him with a lost, abandoned look.
God... Should I get to know him? Not to threaten him? Why did I want to threaten him? Did we compete? When I'm done with him, blackmail him? Money?
He forced me to marry him, didn't he? I detested that wealthy shithead, that arrogant jerk in cahoots with my jackass father, the person who believed he could buy me, the sort of guy who thought everything in the world was for sale. right?
I put my hands to my face and tried to concentrate, but my thoughts were a jumble—
I startled as the front door opened. “s**t! I sprang out of my chair and ran to the foyer to find two big, gorgeous guys lugging my tattered belongings up the front stairs."
