Kai

[A Few Weeks Later] “Huu…” Zephyr—or now called Kai in this new world—leaked out a misty breath as his face faces the ceiling. His little body was too sluggish to listen to him properly, so he was used to staying in a single position for a long period. He didn’t particularly mind, since it allowed him to properly develop his foundations, but his restricted movements made him feel like there was a missing piece in his life. Perhaps it was because Kai despised being restricted. Or maybe… he still carried over his unsatiated desire from his past life. ‘Looks like I’ve set up the groundwork for the Second Circle. I don’t know how long it’ll take, but I’ll begin forming it as soon as possible…’ Kai stole a glance around him and he was grateful that he had been left all alone in the primitive-looking room of his parents. ‘A wooden hut, with straw placed under thick fabric to compensate for a mattress…’ He could see pots and tools that stood at the corner of his room, and by observing enough of his surroundings, Kai had already settled that he had reincarnated into a less advanced time. The most obvious reason was that the technology was still lacking. However, if he could point out another factor, it would be that the people he had seen so far had not used Magic—not even once. ‘In the past, before the New Age Of Magic, a lot of things were done manually.’ However, after enlightenment came, and more Mages started to surface, a lot changed about their society. Commonplace Magic began to be developed, and a more versatile approach was taken with the craft. People learned how to use Mana to cook, to do their laundry, and to process things like spices. There were a lot of improvements to the use of Magic, and this continued on until he was born as Zephyr. ‘But it seems the New Age Of Magic has yet to arrive here…’ Why else would these people be living in such unrefined houses? The construction was fine, and the place was clearly made to be sturdy. However, it was still too primitive to Kai. ‘Even the poorest villages had advanced past this point by the time of my death.’ That was how surprising this civilization was to him. Still, Kai shrugged at all of this. ‘It’s not like I was expecting smooth sailing or anything. I already suspected that there would be some discrepancies…’ While he would have preferred to be reborn into the future, he didn’t particularly consider it shocking that he was in the past. Still unknown to Kai, though, he wasn’t in the past. This was merely a parallel world where what he considered to be Magic did not exist. As a result, there was never going to be anything like The New Age Of Magic, or the Enlightenment Era. This civilization did not rely on such powers in their civilization. It was inevitable that Kai would discover this by himself. However, for now, he wallowed in ignorance. ~CREAK!~ The door parted, and a fairly attractive woman came into the room with a smile on her face. She had sweat all over her body, but that didn’t take even a fraction from her beauty. ‘So mother is finally back, huh…?’ Kai thought to himself as she approached his cot. “My child! You’re already awake?” Before he realized, Kai was already being carried by her surprisingly hard and firm hands. No one would have expected such hands from a beauty like this. “How long have you been awake, I wonder?” Kuvira mumbled to him. Children couldn’t understand words until their brains were developed enough to start learning them, but parents like Kuvira tended to speak to their children even if they weren’t expecting an answer. ‘I’ve been up for about an hour. It seems she left quite some time ago…’ In this body of his, movement wasn’t the only limitation. ‘I get tired way too easily. I also sleep for long hours, and my thoughts get hazy a lot.’ These were all natural components of being a child, but Kai found it to be annoying. “Well, you must be hungry. I’m coming Kai. Let me wash up first.” Kuvira placed him back in cot and walked over to the next room for a quick bath, As Kai watched her leave, he couldn’t help but sigh. ‘Breast Milk again, huh? Will this ever get less awkward?’ It had been a few weeks since his birth, but he could never get used to obtaining sustenance from a woman’s breasts. Still, it was his fate as a baby. ‘Let’s focus on the positives of this situation, shall we?’ Once Kai cautioned his mind, he found himself growing calm. ‘This whole thing isn’t so bad.’ For one, he wasn’t born among savages, and his mother did seem like a very kind woman. He had also seen a few other members of this village, and they all seemed like nice people. ‘I haven’t seen my father or any grown man yet. Apparently, they left for some sort of expedition.’ Kai had gotten this information from a conversation between Kuvira and one of her friends, so it wasn’t just conjecture. ‘Ah yes… another thing I’m grateful for. The language is the same.’ For the longest time, he had been worried that he wasn’t going to understand the language of the people of this new place. Thankfully, he didn’t have to be. ‘They’re not very advanced, but I can understand what they’re saying, and this seems like a very peaceful place.’ All in all, it seemed like a very satisfying start to his life—a perfect place to begin cultivating his power. ‘It should take me only fifty years to reach the level I was in my past life…’ Kai thought with a wide grin. That was less than half of how long it took him before. Back then, he had peaked at his power around 150 years old, and the remaining fifty years of his life was spent searching for the unattainable. But now, he would be able to have all of that strength at a mere fifty years old This was the advantage of starting young and having so much knowledge. Kai could already feel himself grinning. ‘Once I reach the pinnacle I was in my past life, I shall begin my journey to the realm of the Boundless.’ And this time, Kai didn’t intend to lose.
