Chapter 31
Maggie Valley, NC
Friday evening
CHRIS AND MICKEY had flown to Asheville, rented a car, and driven to Maggie Valley. When George and Mike had heard about the planned trip, they’d given Chris the keys to their cabin and the code to the gate. They were relaxing on the deck of the cabin, listening to the noisy stream that ran a dozen or so feet below the deck and a bit farther from its edge.
“This is the life,” Mickey said.
“That’s for sure. Judging by the paperwork, one of the two properties we bought appears to be on this stream, somewhat farther up the mountain. Unless there’s something seriously wrong with the house, that’s gonna tip the scales in its favor.”
“Because the other house has a view, but no stream, right?”
“You bet. That view will have to be pretty damn spect
