IT WAS TIME TO travel to Savannah so Ted could be on Paula Deen’s show. They were on the road as soon as Mickey got home that Friday and arrived in Savannah a couple of hours later.
Mickey’s father answered the door quickly, and Chris wondered if he’d been watching for their arrival.
“Come on in, guys,” Mickey’s father said. “Have you eaten?”
“Yes, Sir,” Mickey said. “We stopped in Brunswick long enough to visit a McDonald’s drive-through.”
“Great. You and Chris are in the guest room—Ted can have your old room. I’m sure you know the way. I’ll wait down here while you get settled.”
Mickey led the way upstairs, down a hallway, and stopped at the last door.
