WHEN MICKEY AND Ted entered the ICU, they found Chris propped up in his bed eating a bowl of soup.
“Looks like they got rid of most of those wires and things,” Mickey said.
“Yeah. For a while there I thought I was trapped in a spiderweb. Hi, Ted. Come give me a hug.”
Ted did so, after which Mickey gave Chris a quick kiss before taking a seat.
“There’s only one chair, Ted, but you can sit in my lap, if you want.”
Ted climbed onto Mickey’s lap and sat looking at his brother.
“That’s not much of a meal,” Mickey said. “Maybe I should have brought you something.”
“Thanks for the thought, Mick, but it wouldn’t be a good idea.”
“Why?”
