*Constance* A knock sounded at the door. Time stopped. My heart stood still. The breath in my lungs became no more than a memory. I was alone, and I began to panic. I knew who it was, and I didn't know if I could answer. I was terrified and yet, not scared at all. I think I was more annoyed than anything else. How dare he think he could just knock on my door, and I would answer? He was a fool if that's what he thought. But as much as I longed to ignore him, I knew I had to answer.
