The silence that followed after wasn’t the suffocating kind, no. It was the kind of silence that was comfortable, which is a little weird because Marcus and I had never had any sort of heart to heart conversation since, well, we separated. I take a silent deep breath, my body itching to stare at him. To not notice the man that was standing beside me. I tried to remind myself that now wasn't the time and there were more important things to direct my attention to. Like this chaos that didn’t seem to want to leave, or the number of warriors carrying the massacred corpses to bury. The distant sound of sirens wailing and wolves howling in despair and pain echoed all through the night air. Marcus just stood right beside me with an air of nonchalance, his eyes fixed somewhere beyond the woods.
