Unveiling family secrets

“Are you guys coming or not”

Mr Joshua asked the mother and children.

“We are coming, dad”

“Kids, let’s go”

“Okay mom” they answered in unison.

All the family headed to Shine’s room.

“Maria, how is he doing” Fredrick asked.

“He is doing fine, sir”

The family met Maria at the door to Shine’s room so Fredrick decided to inquire about his health before they headed inside.

Fredrick pushed the door silently and went inside.

“Hello, gentleman. Welcome to the Morio family” Mr Joshua said sweetly while admiring Shine’s cute body.

“This child looks amazing” mr Joshua couldn’t help complementing him.

All this compliments were fueling the anger in the mother and children. They were giving them side eye.

“Gentlemen, you are called Shine Morio from today onwards. A member of this family “ Mr Josh said then later turned to the rest of the family.

“You people should treat him like a family member. Sarah and Fredrick, since you decided to take care of Shine then you should make sure he doesn’t know he is adopted. Show the kids to love and treat him as their younger brother.”

They all said okay in unison.

They later went back to the hall and continued having a chat until it was 10:00pm.

“It is late, I am leaving. The kids should also rest early.”

“Alright father in-law, take care“

“Okay grandpa, good night “

“ I will escort you to your car” Sarah said and accompanied the dad to the car.

She helped the dad get inside the car and waited for the it to move away before getting inside the house.

As the years pass by everything was going on well for outsiders and Mr Fredrick.

In fact, things weren’t easy for Shine.

He was being maltreated by Sarah and the kids.

On Shine’s 14th birthday something happened which hurt him so much. He even swore not to celebrate his own birthday again.

“Please, I am coming” shine responded.

“Do you know what time it is?” Sarah asked him.

“No, please “

“ You have decided to give me BP ( blood pressure) so I will die early right. That your foolish plan will never work on me”.

“Now leave this place and clean around, I don’t want to come and call you to do anything again. You should use your conscience, do you understand?” Sarah said to shine while he bowed his head respectfully to listen.

He was sad because of the events of the day. No one celebrated his birthday with him, on top off that, he had to go through hell in the hand of the mother and children.

“Yes, madam Sarah” that was how Sarah asked him to address her.

Worst birthday ever. He has never celebrated his birthday before but today was different from the others.

Mr Joshua personally came home to dine with them and gave him a gift.

Mr Fredrick was busy at the hospital so he hasn’t been home since morning but promised Shine he will be home before the day ends.

Mr Joshua, Mr Fredrick and Maria were the only ones who remembered his birthday and wished him.

Mr Fredrick promised him a gift before leaving home.

Everyone pretended to love him when Mr Joshua came.

After some spending some time with playing and chatting, the kids left to their rooms except Shine and Sarah, who waited for Mr Joshua to leave.

After his departure, Sarah drag Shine to his room and took away the gift Mr Joshua gave him.

“Bastard, let me warn you, if you try to take away my children’s shine, I will send you to join your dead mother”.

That sentence hurt him so much because he never knew he was not Sarah’s biological son. He has always been wondering why Sarah would treat him so bad. After this confirmation, everything started making sense to him.

After saying what she wanted to say, she left the room not caring about how Shine will be feeling.

It was around 9:00pm. He carefully cleaned the hall with some of the maids. He went to wash up preparing for bed when He heard a knock on the door.

“Please, I am coming”

He got down from the bed to open the door.
