Exploring new opportunities

Shine had classes all day. After lectures, he went to do the night shift until 10:00 PM before going back to the school's hostel.

"Man, you're back?" Kendrick asked Shine as soon as he entered the room.

"Yes."

Not long after, Divine also came back from the library.

Everybody prepared for bed.

The following days were not easy for Shine since he had to attend lectures and go to work after class.

Kendrick and Emerson realized that he was stressing himself too much, so they came up with an idea to save some of their allowance for him.

In the middle of the semester, Emerson and Kendrick handed over the money they had been saving to Shine, but he rejected it.

"I really appreciate your kindness and love, but I can't take it. I hope you guys understand how I feel."

"Your health is at risk because of the way you have been stressing yourself," Emerson said.

"You can't do this to yourself. I have enough money for my upkeep, so this money isn't something worth rejecting. It's not like we're asking you to pay later or something. It's a gift to you," Kendrick said. He has never been this serious in his life, which took both Emerson and Shine by surprise.

Shine didn't know what to do anymore,

Emerson said, offering an idea. "You're a computer science student, right? There are plenty of ways to make money online. I can show you some websites."

Kendrick and Shine asked in unison, "What is it?"

Desperate to make some money after not receiving any allowance or hearing from Mr. Fredrick, Shine decided to accept the money. As they sat down, they started discussing how Shine could make money.

"Use the money to buy a laptop first. You can make money by coding, writing, marketing, and trading," Emerson said.

"And what websites should I use for those things?"

“You know what? You're a great writer! Last time, when I saw your notes and scanned through them, I realized it was like reading a storybook. It was amazing! I think you should share it with the world so that everyone can enjoy it. Once you make some money from your story, you can start investing in trading. For coding, you can try websites like Upwork or Freelancer. For writing, check out platforms like Fiverr or WriterAccess. And for marketing and trading, you might want to explore options like sss Affiliate or Shopify, as well as forex trading, bitcoin, and crypto trading. There are so many websites out there, so you can do some research on them.”

“To add to what Emerson said, trading isn't easy, but trust me, it's worth it. I know many rich men who are into trading. You can also specialize in gaming and become an online gamer. You got this, man!"

"Hey, thanks for your concern and ideas, guys. Actually, I've thought about those things before, but I don't think they'll work for me."

"Hey, don't let this kind of attitude get you down. Have you actually tried it before saying that?"

"Hey, there's no harm in giving it a try. Give yourself a chance. Relax, we're always here for you." Emerson assured Shine.

“Hmmm, if you guys say so, I'll give it a try.”

“That's more like it!” Kendrick finally gave a satisfied smile.

Since it was a Saturday, they decided to head to the mall to get the laptop. Kendrick drove them there.

They ended up buying a MacBook Pro. Shine started writing the story the next day.

He wrote and published it online, but for about a month, he didn't get many likes or readers. So he felt like giving up.

He told the guys about it, and they encouraged him to be patient since he's new to the system. He decided to be patient, but he had lost hope in writing and stopped posting as frequently as before.

Time flew by fast, and soon it was vacation time.

"Yoo, man, do you have anywhere to go?" Kendrick asked Shine.

"Hmmm, not really."

"You can come with me. My parents would love to meet you," Kendrick suggested.

Emerson agreed with him.

"I..." Shine was about to refuse when Emerson cut in.

"Can you stop being timid and be yourself? I don't know what you've been through in the past, but let me tell you something. In this country, if you're not tough, you might get bullied, and you have to work harder to achieve your goals in life. Stop making excuses and follow him." The usually quiet Emerson lost his cool and reprimanded Shine.

Left with no choice, Shine agreed to the offer.

Once he agreed, Kendrick called his parents to inform them about Shine's stay.

The following morning, they all packed their luggage and left the hostel.

"We'll stay in touch, guys. Shine, let me know if you need anything. Don't give up on whatever you're doing. Your time will come soon," Emerson said before getting in his car and driving off.

They also got into their car and left.

At the Yi family villa...

A young woman was sitting on the sofa, gracefully sipping her tea.

As soon as she heard the sound of a car, she stood up to see her son.

"Mom..." Kendrick called her mom as soon as he got out of the car. He ran to hug her. After a couple of minutes, they separated.

Shine happened to be standing by their side, so Kendrick introduced them to each other.

"Mom, meet Shine, my roommate and friend. Shine, this is my mom."

"Hello, Mrs. Yi. Thank you for having me."

"Oh no, it's fine. You're always welcome here."

"Let's go inside, kids." They turned to leave, but Shine went back to the car to get their luggage.

"Shine, don't worry about the bags. The servants will take care of them," Kendrick said.

"Oww..."

Shine then followed them into the hall.

POV: No matter how your past treated you, never forget to give life a chance. There are many good things in store for you in the future. Just trust in God and work harder.
