27 – Dignity Hailey’s POV: Despite the absence of the Doppler on my stomach, all I see is the image of three flashing hearts on the screen. The sound of the elevator doors opening interrupts my thoughts when I realise we’re about to step inside. A flashback reminds me of the dream where Aiden rejected me in this elevator. It seems like my brain’s logical side is failing me as I experience tightness in my throat and an overwhelming urge to flee instead of stepping into that elevator.
