MATE!!!

1162 Words
Anthony's POV The moment I laid eyes on Elara, my wolf surged within me, a wild, primal energy coursing through my veins. Mate! Claim her! His voice was both urgent and possessive, echoing in the depths of my mind. She is ours, Anthony. The Moon Goddess has chosen her for us, he insisted, a low growl rumbling in my chest. I felt the heat radiating off my skin, a blend of excitement and possessiveness threatening to consume me. You need to act before someone else does! I pressed my palms against the cool surface of the tree beside me, grounding myself as I fought to keep my composure. I can’t just rush in, not yet. We don’t even know her well enough. What if she rejects us? Reject us? His laughter was dark and mocking. She doesn’t even know what she is! She’s special, Anthony, and she will be a great asset for the pack in the upcoming dangers. You need to claim her! My heart raced at the thought, and images of Elara flooded my mind: her fiery spirit, the way her hair danced in the wind, and her laughter like music. The tension in the air crackled like electricity, igniting a deep hunger within me. You feel it too, don’t you? The way she makes us feel alive? Of course, I feel it! I shot back, frustration bubbling up inside me. But we can’t let desire cloud our judgment. She needs to be ready to embrace what we are. She will be ready, my wolf growled, confidence radiating from him. She’s meant for us. Don’t deny her the chance to discover her true power alongside us. The connection is there; you both just need to embrace it. I clenched my fists, struggling to maintain control as the heat swirled within me. What if this puts her in danger? Then we protect her! That’s our duty. You’re her Alpha, and she is your mate. It’s your responsibility to keep her safe and to help her understand her power. But what if the pack doesn’t accept her? I countered, anxiety creeping in. Witches are feared. We both know how the elders feel. We’ll make them see! You have to be strong, Anthony. Stand your ground. If you don’t claim her, someone else will. The Stromcrest Pack will sense her vulnerability and come for her. Do you really want that? The ferocity in his voice jolted me, and I felt a wave of protectiveness wash over me. No. I won’t let them take her. Then stop hesitating! he urged, his impatience palpable. We must act. She needs to know she’s safe with us. Show her who she is meant to be! Before I could respond, Colin’s voice broke through the haze. “Alpha,” he began, his tone respectful yet laced with concern, “may I speak freely?” I nodded, grateful for Colin’s grounding presence as I attempted to regain my composure. He was my beta, a loyal confidant who had always provided clarity in moments of uncertainty. “Why are we protecting a witch?” he asked, his brow furrowing. “You know it’s dangerous, especially with the elders. They won’t agree to this.” “Her past makes her a target,” I replied, crossing my arms, my eyes still fixed on the forest where Elara had disappeared. “If we don’t offer her protection, the Stromcrest Pack will hunt her down. They won’t hesitate to eliminate a threat, perceived or real.” Colin shifted, the weight of the decision heavy between us. “With all due respect, Alpha, aligning ourselves with a witch could lead to direct conflict. The elders will see this as a declaration of war against the Stromcrest Pack. They fear witches; they fear what they cannot control.” “I understand their fears, Beta,” I said, meeting his gaze, “but this isn’t just about her. It’s about our pack’s safety. If the Stromcrest Pack senses weakness or vulnerability, they’ll exploit it. Elara’s powers may be the key to protecting us all.” Colin hesitated, his expression conflicted. “But Alpha, we don’t know the extent of her powers. She might not even be aware of them. Trusting her could be a risk we can’t afford.” I felt a surge of frustration but tempered it with patience. “That’s exactly why I’m offering her training. She needs to learn how to harness her magic before it consumes her. She has the potential to become a formidable ally.” “And if the elders find out?” Colin pressed. “What will you tell them? That you’ve chosen to protect a witch, defying their authority?” “The elders will see the bigger picture once I explain it to them,” I replied, my voice steady. “But there’s something you need to understand, Colin. Elara is more than just a witch. She is my fated mate.” Colin’s eyes widened, the weight of my revelation settling heavily in the air between us. “Alpha, that’s impossible. You can’t be serious.” “I am serious,” I said, the conviction in my voice unwavering. “The Moon Goddess has chosen her for me for a reason. It’s not just fate; it’s destiny. I can’t turn my back on her.” “But Alpha—” Colin started, but I held up a hand to silence him. “You must trust me,” I insisted. “Elara doesn’t know the extent of her powers yet. She’s been running from her past, from the very thing that makes her a target. If we allow her to stay vulnerable, it endangers not only her life but the entire pack.” Colin’s expression softened slightly, understanding beginning to dawn. “If you believe she is your mate, then I will stand by your decision. But we must tread carefully. The elders will not take kindly to this news.” “I know,” I replied, my mind racing with the implications. “But we’ll handle it together. I won’t let fear dictate our actions.” “Then what’s our next move?” Colin asked, his resolve returning. “We train Elara,” I said, my determination solidifying. “I’ll guide her, teach her to embrace her magic and harness her strength. And when the time comes, we’ll confront the Stromcrest Pack. We won’t back down.” Colin nodded, a flicker of respect in his eyes. “As you command, Alpha. I’ll ensure the pack is prepared for whatever comes next.” “Good,” I replied, feeling the weight of responsibility settle on my shoulders. “We’re stepping into dangerous territory, but I won’t let anything happen to her. I’ll protect her with my life.” With that, I turned my gaze toward the woods once more, determination igniting within me. Elara’s arrival had sparked a change, and I was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
