Chapter 5Two weeks later, we were ready. Each of the U1550 Unimog's had been fitted with refrigerators and freezers. Each Unimog already had built-in A/C electric power generators. Our U1300 Unimog was fitted with two portable generators that will supply A/C power for our camp sites, computers, and satellite phones. The U1300 was also fitted with a huge air compressor. We mounted winches on all vehicles. We also mounted ladder racks, spare tire racks, and storage racks for the spare vehicle parts on the Unimog roof tops. We mounted a scooter rack on three of the vehicles. Our three Vespa scooters we brought with us on the plane could now ride with us on our trek. We may never use them, but who knows, they may come in handy.
