TELLING LYDIA.

1003 Words
ARIANA'S POV. I rushed into my room as I closed my window, I shoved my cloak into the deepest part of my wardrobe as I panthed, I just met a dark fae, and I was alive surprisingly. Oh wow, I stared at my reflection in my mirror as I touched my face, I wasn't missing any part so I was fine, I was perfectly okay. I went into my bath as I scrubbed my body, I wanted to get rid of his smell, I wanted to get rid of anything that reminded me of him, now that I focused more on it he smelt like spices, midnight air and storms. I dipped myself into the bath as I groaned, I regretted going out tonight, why did he have to show himself today? Actually no, despite the fear and despite the fact that he cut the festival short, despite almost dying I couldn't stop thinking about him. His violet eyes, Gods! What an odd colour, my family always told me dark faes were disgusting creatures but this one was far from that. I stopped myself immediately as I buried myself deeper into the water, absolutely not. I wasn't allowing myself to think of him, or accept he was attractive especially when he kidn*pped me and saved me too. I groaned, raising myself from the bath as I put on a robe before stepping out, I wore my nightgown before laying in bed, I stared at the ceiling as memories replayed endlessly in my head, “I'm not going to hurt you.” He said it so calmly I actually wanted to believe him, oh Gods! I needed to talk to Lydia, showcase the only person who knew about my sneaking out and my little adventures. She was my personal maid but she treated me less like a fragile princess and more of her younger sister. I sighed, I dreaded sleeping, I was definitely going to have flashbacks from my childhood, I was going to be reminded of my bullies, I wish they were all dead but unfortunately they weren't. My mind takes me back to when I was still a little girl. I'm happy, it was my birthday. My tenth, the general awakening age for all light faes, but I hadn't shown any special signs that day or the next or the months after, different healers came, physicians even. Different faes from different parts of the kingdom came and they all said the same thing. “Her majesty has been born with no essence” as a child it hurt to know I couldn't control elements like my mates or the rest of my family, it hurt to also hear everyone speak about you, it hurt to also see people treat you differently. I could never understand why I wasn't given birth with powers, I was just a human, I wasn't a fae, but I wasn't to blame, this was my fate and there was no way to change it. I blinked, touching my face. I hadn't even realized I'd been crying. I sniffed, wiping my eyes before, I was such a cry baby, I thought back to the happiest memories of my life, when all I had to do was sit still for a family portrait or for a self portrait. Life was good until I figured I didn't have powers, now everyone kept talking about me or pointing fingers. I sighed as I pulled the blanket over my head, I was going to tell Lydia everything tomorrow. Next Morning, I hugged my blanket tightly as Lydia pulled at it, “Your highness get up! You have a long day today she yells and I finally let her pull the blanket off, she gives me one of her smiles and I return it. She suddenly narrowed her eyes, “Tell me what's the meaning of that look?” She asks as she helps me out of my gown, “What look?” I ask and she snacks my arm softly. “Talk Drizella, I know you have that look that says a lot,” she said and I giggled. She helps me into the bath as she washes my hair first, “I went to see the festival, father is probably going to kill me but I don't care” I say and she shakes her head, “I can't say anything to you.” She replied and I giggled, “Did you have fun?” She asked and I nodded, “Great, now tell me everything.” She says brushing my hair as she dried my skin. I start telling her about how I left and how beautiful the market was, I tell her also about the kid who came to me. “Anything else?” she asks, I swallowed, “There was a dark fae.” I say and the brush drops from her hand, “A what? Drizella, are you insane?!” She asks, “Please stop yelling” I say “Your highness, you could have been hurt, worse killed” she replies. “He saved me,” I blurted, she stares at me like I said a very nasty joke, “Did you hit your head perhaps?” She asks. “No, I'm serious” I reply “He actually saved me,” I added as she folded her arms as she gave me her stern look. “Start talking.” She said and I swallowed, I started telling her everything that happened after the gong trying very hard not to describe how attractive he was. She holds out her palm and stops me, “You fancy him” she says and my eyes widens. “I absolutely do not!” I exclaimed, and she laughed. “Your highness, I grew up with you and I know you,” she says and I groan, burying my face in my palms. As hard as I don't want to admit it, Lydia was right, I wanted to see him again.
