"You don't have a daddy! He's gone to Heaven!" Tears welled up in Evelyn's eyes.
Susan started crying loudly, "No, Daddy hasn't gone to Heaven."
"Don't cry, Susan. Let's go home!" Evelyn held her daughter tightly and walked away with a determined look in her eyes.
"I want Daddy!" Susan continued to cry.
But Evelyn's expression remained cold as she prepared to leave the airport with Susan. To that shameless man, Evelyn felt nothing but hatred.
Five years ago, after a one-night stand with Gavin, he vanished. Rumors spread nationwide that Gavin was a rapist, and his disappearance was because Evelyn had hired someone to kill him.
As the prime suspect, Evelyn was imprisoned for a year. Her daughter Susan, only two years old, was sent to an orphanage and bullied there.
'If that guy had shown up even once to clear things up, Susan and I wouldn't have had to suffer so much!' Evelyn thought.

At that moment, a custom-made black Rolls-Royce, one of only three in the world, slowly pulled up to the airport entrance. A middle-aged man in a black suit stepped forward immediately and opened the car door respectfully.
If the high society of Texas saw this, they would be shocked—this middle-aged man was Edward Martin, the richest man in Houston. Yet here he was, opening the car door for someone else.
An elderly man with silvery hair then stepped out, dressed in a high-end custom LV suit, leaning on an exquisite cane topped with a sapphire the size of an egg. Though he seemed old and frail, his posture was upright, exuding an aura of authority.
"Master Hernandez should be coming out soon, right?" the old man said slowly, his eyes fixed intently on the airport exit.
Just then, two tall figures appeared.
The old man's gaze remained fixed on the young man in front. To Edward's surprise, the old man walked over quickly, bowed, and said respectfully, "Winston Hale, Secretary-General of the Hernandez family in Washington, is here to escort Master Hernandez back to Washington to take charge of the Hernandez family."
The old man's introduction made Gavin realize who he was. But hearing the words "Hernandez family" instantly dampened Gavin's joy of returning home, and a surge of anger rose within him.
Gavin looked at Winston with contempt. "How ironic. Ten years ago, my mother and I were driven out of the family. We were threatened never to set foot in Texas again because I was an illegitimate child and unworthy of anything from the Hernandez family. And now you want me to take charge of the Hernandez family?"
He continued, "My mother was gravely ill, and with nowhere else to go, I begged the Hernandez family for help. What did they do? We stood outside the Hernandez family's door in pouring rain all night, and none of them showed us any pity!" His voice grew more anguished as he spoke of his mother.
"Now that they know I've returned from the Middle East with honors, awarded the rank of Five-star General, they want me to lead the Hernandez family, huh? Go back and tell them that to me, the Hernandez family is nothing! If they dare to bother me again, don't blame me for going to Washington myself and wiping them out," Gavin bellowed.
The hatred had been festering in Gavin's heart for many years. Five years of military service had made him calm and composed. But at this moment, the long-suppressed anger made this American hero's eyes bloodshot with rage.
Winston let out a sigh as if he had anticipated this. He said, "Yara & Gavin Group is planning to set up in Houston soon. This company was built by your mother when she was in Washington, named after both of you. Now that she has passed, Yara & Gavin Group rightfully belongs to you."
Gavin laughed coldly and corrected him, "It's not about handing it over to me. Yara & Gavin Group has always belonged to my mother. I'm here to reclaim what's mine. Remember, it's not you giving it back to me; it's me taking it back myself!"
He paused momentarily before continuing, "Don't make yourselves sound like you would kindly return it to me. If I didn't have my current status, you would take everything that belongs to me like shameless thieves!"
He then added coldly, "Now, you can leave!" With that, he turned and walked away.
"It was the Hernandez family's fault!" Watching Gavin's departing figure, Winston looked sorrowful. He then instructed Edward, "Edward, from today onward, do everything you can to make it up to Master Hernandez."
Edward responded respectfully, "Mr. Hale, without you, I wouldn't be where I am today. Rest assured; I will try my best to make it up to Master Hernandez."
Winston added, "By the way, Master Hernandez got married five years ago. Now that he has returned, you should represent the Hernandez family and pay a visit to the Reeve family."
Edward replied solemnly, "Yes!"

On the other side, Gavin instructed David, "Head to the Reeve family home!"
David nodded and said, "Yes, General. The convoy will be here shortly."
"Just call me 'sir', and the convoy is unnecessary." Gavin hailed a taxi.
As the taxi sped along, Gavin's thoughts drifted back to the past. That night, the pouring rain cut his ties to the Hernandez family completely.
Five years ago, his mother passed away due to a serious illness just as Gavin had enlisted in the military, penniless and framed. Then, he had a one-night stand with Evelyn. Less than a month after their marriage, he received an urgent order as a recruit to support anti-terrorism efforts in the Middle East.
That departure lasted five years. He missed Evelyn every day.
While Gavin was lost in thought, the taxi arrived at the Reeve family's residence. A brand-new custom Maybach was parked in front of an old villa.
Gavin glanced at the luxury car and smiled lightly. "It seems Evelyn is more valued by the Reeve family than five years ago. She can drive custom luxury cars now."
Returning to the Reeve family, Gavin had mixed feelings. Although he was a victim five years ago, he was the one who took her virginity. Leaving without a word right after their wedding was his fault.
Over the years, Evelyn endured countless rumors and even imprisonment. He could tell how heartbroken she must have been. And he only learned about it a few days ago.
Now, Gavin had achieved great success, wielding immense power and wealth in America.
'I can finally declare to everyone proudly that Evelyn is my wife. I will make all the elite families in America bow to Evelyn!' he thought.
Standing at the villa's entrance, Gavin raised his hand and pressed the doorbell.
From inside the villa came a scream, "Jeez! A dead man has come back to life!"
