Everything about today has been utter chaos and just plain stressful. I chose my mate, and we shared a beautiful moment with each other, being fully mated and marked. Then, I realized I had a fated mate this whole time. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since I am a newborn it was bound to happen. I just thought Nathan and I were just meant to be. Our marks were so gorgeous that I often found myself smiling whenever I touched it. I had a strong mate.
My family, when they met him, would absolutely adore him. I keep thinking about my family. There's so much that has happened that I can't tell them.
All these thoughts and feelings.. They're so raw and sore. My heart felt like it'd shattered to a million pieces when I found out who my fated mate was. I mean, why me? Why was I intentionally mated to a blood sucking monster? Rejecting him was awful. Rejecting him hurt even worse than finding out he was my mate and thought killing me was better. A part of Alex and I didn't want to reject him. In some sick sense, he was just trying to protect us. But we both agreed that it was sick and humiliating to choose a man who chose to kill us instead. Nathan was neither of those things. He helped save me, and hell, he carried me home and was the first person I woke up to. It was then when I woke up that I felt a pull. I had found out we were each other's second chance after our marking and Graces epiphany. It's incredibly rare to be gifted a second chance, yet I was. I'm so thankful to have a man who chose to save, stay, and be dedicated to me.
Moon Goddess, thank you. Truly.
How was I blessed this much but also in so much pain over a man I didn't even truly know?
I had to put my hands down on that table in that cell to keep myself from falling over reeling from the heartbreak. Alex whimpered in agonizing pain, and I felt as if I should scream or tear my heart out. I thought to myself that if I did that, he would have something of me. I had to stand there and take it. I had begun to shake from the pain. He needed to know I was happy with a man who CHOSE me. In this life and not the next.
Nathan carried me home. My eyes were swollen, and I could feel my pain wafting to him in waves. I tried to tell him I loved him, and this didn't mean anything, but he hushed me and lifted me up in his arms, allowing me to curl into his chest. He whispered sweet things to me and let me know he was gonna shower before joining me in bed. Honestly, I don't remember what happened after he set me down. All I know is that I woke up in excruciating pain and a wetness between my legs.
Panic dwelled inside of me, and it made it very hard to breathe. I started going over my symptoms with everything that has happened and Luke's words repeating inside my head. 'You could lose the baby.' My breath hitched, and Nathan woke in a panic, feeling my anxiety through the bond. He looked at me and looked down. I saw his nose flare, and he froze for a second.
The baby.
I could tell we both had the same thoughts. I felt my heart flutter with another surge of pain. I felt the pain in my lower abdomen, and I knew it was early contractions. My body after the rejection was so hurt and heartbroken. I'm going to do everything I can to keep our baby here. Alex says. I feel her panic as well. I look back up at Nathan, and he picks me up and runs down the stairs. My legs start to tingle, and I'm scared it's too late. I just found out I was pregnant.
"I've mind linked Grace and Dr. Hughs. They're ready for us. Grace said to take the Alpha Luna suit." He said, kissing my forehead. He got me in the car and sped all the way to the hospital. In the car, to help distract me, I started timing my contractions, I was scared I would be having my baby.
Once I saw the hospital lights, the nurses guided me to the bed.
"Dr. Parker, we've got the room ready. Dr. Hughs is on the way. He's just finished up a surgery. " Our nurse said.
"Thank you, Lexi. They're spaced out. I'm afraid after all my stress, my body is saying no. We have to keep her in there longer." I say the last part to Nathan. Lexi nodded and set me up to take a look.
"I'm here, Dr. Parker. Or should I say Cohen? I see you've made it official." He smiles obviously, trying to help distract me.
Nathan gets put in the corner of the room while they assess and monitor me. Occasionally, I hear growling noises coming from him from all the contact.
After a few minutes, Dr. Hugh is trying to get a good assessment, he says,
"You'll be okay. The baby, too. I think with everything that has happened. Your body is stressed. If you had waited, it could be a different story. Your wolf has done a remarkable job. I'm going to give you pain meds to help your wolf so she can take a small break and recover. However, I require you to be on bed rest for 2 weeks. To make sure I can monitor you and the baby. You know what this means." I nodded at him.
I was just so exhausted after everything. I honestly just wanted to go to sleep.
Knowing my baby was still okay helped a ton. I just had to be careful.
"The cramps should go away, and we've stopped the bleeding. " Lexi says to me. I take her hand and squeeze it. I look over to Nathan, and it looks like he's in a trance.
Hey baby, I'll be okay.
He turns his eyes towards me, his hand still clutching his face and his arm wrapped around his torso.
Come here
He walks to me, but his eyes are emotionless.
I'll be okay. Look at me. I need you here to calm both of us and our wolves down.
I've seen this happen in med school. We got to watch a risky delivery. The couple was stubborn and wanted to proceed with a natural birth after the doctor called for a C-section, and the mother passed away during the delivery. The husband stared emotionlessly towards his wife while holding his baby. He was experiencing some PTSD. I could see a similar look on Nathan.
You need to stop almost dying. I can't lose two of you at once.
He says, reaching out to me. He kissed my forehead and slid into the bed next to me.
Also, Dr. Cohen sounds smooth.
I gave him a slight smile and rested my head on his shoulder. I need him close to help relax my body. Our mate is helping us heal. He needs to stay with us for a while. This took a lot out of me to stop. I need to rest. His presence will help us go to sleep. I'll try and subside the pain a little bit till the meds kick in. Alex says to me. I smile at her internally and snuggle deeper into Nathan.
"Hey, I'm here!" Grace and Ashley both rush inside of the room, disrupting the little peace we had just accumulated. I lift my head to give them a small smile. They're my closest friends during my transition here. Grace and Ashley took me shopping for the things I needed and also took me back to my apartment. They had been there when I put my two weeks in at work and the hospital. Nathan had been intructed to follow me to work and waited till I left for two weeks. Other wolves within the establishment understood what was happening, but my human friends within the bar and the hospital were heartbroken. Especially the doctor I was training under. She didn't know Dr. Hugh and that turned into a big whole mess. She was fighting for me to stay with her, even offering to pay me more once I was finished with my residency. She saw great potential in me. I eventually had to tell her in person I was leaving and make it official so she'd finally understand I was leaving and back off. It sucked. I felt like I burned a tie with a great doctor. I still text her from time to time, but she always leaves a remark about me leaving. That's the day Nathan and I were on the mats, and he pinned me a little bit longer than he usually pinned anyone. He had sensed some pinned up energy in me from everything and offered to have a small session to get my frustration out. I smile internally at that thought and look at my friends. I reach out to them, with my head on Nathan's chest. I'm too tired to do anything else.
"Thank you," I said to them. Nathan squeezed my shoulders.
"Can you stop almost dying, please? I don't think we can take this anymore!" Ashley said. Grace nodded her head, and Nathan started chuckling.
"You can't take it? I can't take it! Everything is way more intense now that we are marked and mated. On a different note, Ashley, I need you to help me take on Gamma for a few days and a few tasks throughout the next two weeks. Alesia is on bed rest." Ashley smiles wide.
"Yes, of course, I can big, brother." She has a mischievous facial expression, and I mind link Nathan.
Uh oh… do you think she'll give it back? I tease him.
She's a beta she has, too.
" Don't get to cocky sis. I just know you're familiar with the tasks as dad and mom taught us young." Grace grinned, and Ashley swatted her hand mindlessly at him.
"Don't worry, I can't handle two roles at the same time forever. Not with these outbreaks of bloodsuckers." She said.
"Ugh, I'm so sorry, guys. You need to be working. I'll be okay. I'm in the hospital. I'll be okay, Babe. You need to be leading. I won't accept you being here during the day. The pack needs you out there." I said, putting my head back down. I saw Grace and Ashley both look concerned as my eyes fluttered shut before Nathan could respond to me.
I feel like I'm always sleeping when something happens to me. Alex, why are we having so many issues so early in our new journey together? I don't know. We've been attacked to rejecting a mate and then possibly losing our baby. We are no doubtedly stressed. I can't tell you why it's happened to us. That's something we'll have to ask the moon Goddess.
I push those thoughts aside and let myself dream.
