Alesia

I see a woman standing in the middle of a pond. Fog surrounding her. Curiously, I walked towards her. The water at first seemed cold, but it became almost temperature less, almost like I became numb. I ask,

"Who's there?" No one responded.

The women just turned and started walking.

"Who are you?" I said, taking another step. But yet still nothing. She kept walking. I decided I was going to follow her.

"If you aren't going to answer me, why am I here? Where am I?" These words also didn't faze the women, and yet somehow I found my feet walking towards her. Haven't you ever heard of curiosity killing the cat? I mentally thought to myself.

I heard a small laugh from the women in the fog.

"Can you hear my thoughts?" I said curiously?

"I can hear all of my children's thoughts." The women finally spoke.

" Who are you?"

"I'm the mother of all wolves. We dont have much time, sweetheart. " She said. Shocked, I whisper,

"You're the mood Goddess everyone tells me about?" She laughs and nods. She had the most beautiful angelic laugh it was addictive.

"Yes, and I'm Here to tell you I saved your baby. Your son will be a great leader of the Blue Moon pack. The alpha that can be most trusted as his cousin rules. " She says, stepping closer to me.

"My son is not an Alpha? He is a gammas son, " I said to her, confused.

"He has royal alpha blood flowing through him. Nathan is a cousin to the royals, as you may know. The vampires want to kill the new alpha king like his father before he has a daughter, an heir. I have chosen a girl to rise and unite all forms of my creatures. You must protect.." She says, cupping my cheek calmly. Panicked that she's not finished her sentence, I ask,

"I must protect what?" Just then, I feel a tug like I am being pulled back to reality. Things around me start to fade, and I hear her voice within the darkness.

"I must go. They need you now more than anything. Grace. Talk to Grace. She will know. You must protect the girl." The mood Goddess says.

I feel more confused now than I did before. The moon Goddess herself confirmed my baby but told me I have a child who will run my pack. What does that mean? She said I must protect? Protect the king? The heir? Grace? How do I protect them? What girl?

I wake up and fly upwards. I see monitors next to me, and remember I'm in the hospital. I look beside me and see no one.

Nathan?

Hey baby, I'm getting food for us. The hospital food sucks. He responds.

I shimmy myself back into my bed and try to relax. I hear footsteps down the hall, making their way towards my room and see Dr. Hugh.

"Hey, how are you doing?" He asks, holding my chart.

" I'm okay, actually. I feel brand new. I feel.. completely fine?" I said.

The Moon Goddess healed us. We must protect the girl. Alex, what does that mean? I'm not sure yet, but we have to talk to Grace. That's all we know. Only Grace? Yes. Okay..

"Hmm, let me do an ultrasound and see."

I smile at him already, knowing I'm healed, but I had this urge to stay quiet about how quickly I had healed. I can't imagine a goddess visiting its wolves, which happened very often.

He ques everything up and looks at the screen utterly confused.

" Even for a wolf, this is too soon. You are completely healed. I mean, it was only gonna take you a day or so to heal internally and externally, but to make sure the baby was okay, I wanted you here longer.. everything seems fine?" He looked at me puzzled.

"Alesia, this is really weird. You healed somehow in a day. There is not even a trace of a problem ...." I looked at him confused, wanting to look at the monitor. A part of me was shocked that I was healed, but I knew if I didn't seem shocked, he would suspect something more than he might now. Why am I keeping this a secret? I feel I must, though.

"I guess I can let you go tonight. I want to keep you monitored for today. And come in every day for 2 more days, " He says, writing things down on my chart. He looks at me again through his glasses, and then Nathan walks through the door with food.

"Gamma. Nice to see you again. Alesia has made a full and remarkable recovery. I can release her tonight." He says watching him. Nathan looks confused.

"What do you mean? You wanted to keep her for at least two weeks? To monitor her? She's healed?" I look at Nathan.

"I don't care how it happened. All I know is that our baby is fine. " I said to him.

We need to talk. I linked him.

I waited for Dr. Hugh's to leave to finish our mind link conversation.

What's going on, love?

The mood Goddess came to me while I was sleeping. She told me things. The only thing I can tell you is that we will have a son and that she healed me. I need to talk to Grace privately.

You must be gifted. She never visits unless it's important. She'll occasionally, throughout history, visit royals before battles but this.. this is different. He links and holds my hand.

There's more, but I can not tell you. I can only tell Grace. I said. Only she will know what this visit means.

I watch Nathan nod and settle down into a chair waiting for my release. We ate lunch, which happened to be five cheese burgers. This man could eat anything and everything. I ate two of them, not realizing just how hungry I was. Then I remembered we didn't eat dinner last night after all my stress and heartbreak. After we ate, I watched him fill out paperwork and make phone calls. Everything seemed to be going smoothly.

Once the release was signed, I was ready to go home. When we got home, we found Grace sitting at our kitchen counter on a bar stool with three empty bottles of wine. She had another glass of wine in her hands. Her eyes were swollen, and her hair ruffled.

"Alesia." She locked eyes with me. "I know."
