Chapter 22: Date Night

So many things have been going on since the Luna Ceremony, I have been busy doing my duties as the King Consort, helping with a few businesses with my husband, and starting a new venture of my own. Marie is away on vacation with Elijah's mother in Dragonmare since Marie befriended Heather, Domicic's live-in girlfriend, and hopefully, he mates her as the crown requested. Elijah has been working in secret on certain projects, and Piot is in the human territory trying to track down his missing daughter. Since my encounter with her, I admit that I may have overreacted; Piot apologized to me on so many occasions that I had to remind him that it was water under the bridge and to love her no matter what. I hope they find a cure soon, since she wasn't born like that and was made like that by poison; I also hope they find out who did that to her. I also plan a dinner for Elijah since we haven't had much private time lately, as things started to get heated with Roman.

A lot of the staff were surprised that I loved to cook and did a lot of gourmet meals for my mates and kids; my daughters lived at home. They are not mated yet, and Eli lives in an apartment in a building I own in the city; he lives in a penthouse and has his own advertising business. Our daughters, Elie and Janet, are more like their mother; they are hoping to be mated to the same guy, as they have never shared anything since birth. Eli also runs the Royals magazine, keeping up with the Royals, only factual information about everyone, which beats out the gossip magazines on our everyday life. He gives much coverage about Roman as needed, and with Aidan being back, he runs more on the Valmores, which pisses Roman off. Aidan loved it, telling Elijah to let Eli keep up with running it so they could see Roman lose favor with the people.

I had Elijah's favorite wine chilled and the table set for two after sending meals to my daughters, who were staying in watching movies in their private lounge tonight. Toffe's wedding was also coming up, and we were invited again, this time security would be spiced up, so what happened at Luna Michelle's wedding would not happen again. That was one hell of a surprise for us, but we handled it the best we could, and Aidan was able to attend his honeymoon after all. Ty also elopes, and Addison is pregnant with his pup; Drax is still having issues with his mates, but according to Elijah, love always wins in the end. Elijah was also invited to Barron's wedding coming up soon, and I was happy for him; it's about time he chose his Queen. Eli has broken up with his girlfriend because he has been going through some stuff, and it wasn't fair to her; rumor has it he found his mate, and it's complicated.

Eli never confirmed or denied that it was the reason, and hopefully, he will confide in Elijah or me if he is more comfortable telling me. I went to our quarters to get ready, as Elijah just messaged that he was leaving the office soon; I had butterflies in my stomach every time I heard his name or saw a message from him. I was so in love with him that I never thought I could have this happiness or expect to be in a triad as a commoner, because only a royal gets to be in a triad. However, if you study it, Marie was also a commoner, and so was Mina; I guess, looking at it through that lens, we were lucky. Marie also loves Elijah, and we know that he loves us through the bond; he never hides it, and I respect that about him. I guess the vicious Vampire King only shows his softer side to his friends and us.

After my shower, I changed into something more comfortable, which was black slacks and a white t-shirt, and I went to check on the table. Elijah went straight to the bedroom to change and shower in our bathroom, as he mind-linked me, "Give me a few minutes, love," and closed the link. I felt his love in the bond and I smiled as I lit the candles on the table, I felt a hand go around me as I lit the last candle feeling a kiss on my neck before I felt his bite, I moaned and he whispered, "Always the best dinner," and I smiled leading him to the table so we could eat. I made his favorite as he looked at the prime steak with his steamed veggies and his wine, he also had blood in a glass, and he smiled. We ate in silence, as we were both hungry and had our share of blood. We talked about his work, and I talked about mine; in all, it was an enjoyable dinner.

I was in touch with Piot, and he had a lead on Lauren that he was following; Lauren had killed men in the human territory, and they were actively looking for her. We wanted to find her before our secret of a supernatural world was discovered, one of the things the moon goddess feared. Lauren is being labeled a serial killer, and honestly, they won't hesitate to torture her before killing her, and she won't hesitate to kill either. It is in our genes to go defensive, especially with her mind so messed up; I will not kill my daughter, don't care how much the elders are requesting it for the safety of my people. I hate lying to Marie and Jasper about this, but it is necessary for now, and I hope that I don't have to tell them unless I need their help; then I would have no choice. Marion knows and has found a way to help with the voices in her head so she can settle down and be a functioning member of society again.

I pulled up to the house, and I could sense Jasper in the dining room; I let him know that I would meet him in a few minutes, as I wanted to freshen up first. I took a quick shower and headed down to my mate; I watched him gracefully light the candles, and he made me so vulnerable around him, and of course, I could never stop thinking about him or Marie. After our dinner, we talked about many things, but all I could think about was how much my life had changed since being mated to Marie and Jasper. I do miss Sherise, and I feel horrible about never getting a chance to be with her and our unborn child. I will forever regret ever getting with Jonx; he brought so much pain to families over the years that it almost caused a war among territories, and I hope he is still burning in the underworld. I was blinded by love, as I loved him so much, and I didn't see the evil that he was.

We walked to the bedroom to turn in for the night and decided to video call Marie to check in before we got some sleep; she was beautiful. Marie, however, had other plans; she decided to let us watch her play with herself using some toys, and we didn't mind at all. I knew what he was going to say, and my heart hurt for my daughter; I was failing her badly, but Piot loved my daughter, and Drugu had the potion that Marion cooked up, and I was ready for Lauren to settle. Dragu gave the potion to her through a syringe after the nurses cleaned her up; they made sure to give her something so she wouldn't get pregnant. I have a therapist on hand so she could talk to them if she needs to; Kenna ran to the room with tears, as she loved Lauren. Piot told me everything, and Dragu sent men to clean up the mess Piot left behind. I asked Dragu about Marion, and he smiled, saying, "She is visiting a friend in the underworld," and I could see that it bothered him, but he looked at me, saying, "I trust her, Elijah; it's him I don't trust," before he left.
