I had been preparing lunch for when my mates would drop in, and Elliot was staying with Eli for the weekend; he loves hanging out with his older brother, and I didn't mind. Also, we are attending Aidan's barbecue tomorrow and will see him with Eli and his family anyway. I don't know what happened yesterday, but my blood ran hot as a voice said, "They are coming," I never understood what that was about. We were also given an antidote that made us immune to the 'dragon's fire' going forward, since someone was gunning for Piot and me. Allan's dragon is also attached to Lauren for life and can get very possessive; although Allan himself tries to fight it, he loves Lauren, and everyone can tell. Lauren always wanted to be mated, and she got her wish; even if it wasn't a mating of her choice, she has finally gotten over her obsession with Barron and the loss of her first mate, Dale. She has a new obsession with her mate, and he loves the little crazy left in her, especially when she gets jealous. They did get their Royal Wedding after I introduced my daughter to Ravena, and my father introduced his son, Piot. The Kingdom was shell-shocked, but they accepted Piot and Lauren into the Royal Family as legit heirs, although Piot was already a Prince. Now, it's a bump up the chain in terms of hierarchy; Piot and his family got their respective titles, and so did Lauren, although, since being mated to Allan, she would have gotten her princess title anyway.

However, Piot is now on the case to find the culprits who poisoned Lauren, and the search has moved to Dragonmare since 'dragon fire' was locked away in a vault. Jasper handed me a drink as we watched Marie mingle with Lily and Michelle, along with Allison and Addy. Barron had joined us earlier with his family, and I wanted to talk to him, but at a later date, about a building I wanted to rent for a company. The party was in full swing when I heard shots, and the kids started screaming; we got up to help and saw Emerie on the floor, and Michael passed out. Barron looked at me, and I froze, and so did Eli; my blood burned, and it was excruciating as I heard voices again saying, "They are here," and before I knew it, I saw black. I woke up two days later with Marie next to me, and she told me that Barron and Eli had passed out as well, along with Barron's teenage son.

I woke up two days later in the hospital with Sophie at my side; she smiled at me and said, "Hey baby, you are awake," before her eyes clouded over, and I heard footsteps coming down the hall. Sapphire opened the door and ran over to me, hugging me as my other kids followed; I saw Aidan by the door, and he smiled, asking them to leave so we could talk. He said, "You give us a scare, Barron," and I asked, "What happened?" He filled me in on Michael's situation and said we may have an issue with hunters moving forward; I was confused because we had only ever heard of them, and we had never met any of them. He said, "Get dressed, we have to talk," I got up to put my shirt on and followed him out; I was handed a sandwich and walked into Aidan's office. It was a full house because the Supremes, along with King Samuel, were there with Marlon and Elijah.

We were filled in on the situation, as Samuel filled us in on the prison break that happened, we were filled in on the history of the most deadly hunter alive right now. Michael also has his issues, and we weren't sure if it was linked to us, but he was pissed about what happened to Emerie. After the confirmation of the two other prisoners who had escaped with Fury, I looked at Elijah, who was stoically looking out the window when he said, "Logar r***d my sister, and I executed Jonx," before he jumped out the window, leaving us; he was visibly upset. I looked at Aidan in disbelief, but asked, "What does that have to do with me passing out?" Samuel cut in and said, "Because when he came back to the land of the living, the bloodline that ended him would have been notified, let's say, a built-in alarm clock, that's why you and your father passed out." I was shocked because I didn't know about my dad passing out; he said, "The same thing happened to Johrir and Elijah; it only affects the firstborn."

I opened my eyes, thinking about my daughter, and asked, "What about Sapphire? She is my firstborn," Aidan smiled, and said, "It only affects the firstborn males." I couldn't believe I had to deal with a past villain who was hell-bent on revenge because of what my ancestors did. Ty looked at me and said, "Not only did your father pass out, but your firstborn son also did," and I shook my head in disbelief. I knew what this meant; Fury was gunning for Elijah and me, and this wouldn't end well at all because our family line is at stake. I trust the immortality link with my cousin, but that would mean he would go after those close to us who aren't immortal; I mind-linked Elijah, and he replied, "We have a hunter to kill," and I smiled because, since what happened to Lauren, Elijah was deadly when it came to family.
