The return : Gio’s Perspective

229 Words
Of course she hugged me she can’t help herself. At least she hugged her father first. We sit in the back of the lawyer’s Mercedes, his seat is further back then I’d like but I’m not one to complain. I’ve sat beside Frankie for a while now it’s not new. We don’t talk although I can tell she wants to now. She keeps looking over at me nervously. My arms are crossed. This morning was awful her seeing that. This is just one of the many reasons she doesn’t belong here. With the twins it’s different but surely her father could’ve tried harder to find someone to take her in. She can’t stay. I wait until we’re home to pull Frank aside. “Her mother has family. I suppose I could ask but she’s so close to graduating”, he says thoughtfully. “ I don’t give a sh*t. I want her gone”, I grit out angrily. Frank just nods and leaves me standing by myself. She can’t stay. This is long overdue. I refuse to drive the next day making a young guard named Carlo do it instead. I have no intention of going near her. I’m doing the best thing. I’m giving her a chance she’ll never have here. I don’t miss the look of disappointment she gives me as she shuffles out the door.
