I stopped crying on the plane. I decide if he wants me to forget him that’s what I’ll do. I get my luggage and am not quite sure what to do. I’ve never been anywhere alone. I open my carry on and pull out my phone and turn it on. Sighing deeply I call my father.
“Daddy I’m here at the airport. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do”, I tell him.
“No one’s there for you?”, he asks.
“No not that I can tell. Should I just request an Uber do you think?”, I ask.
I’m still waiting for him to respond when a tall blonde guy walks over to me.
“Excuse me? Are you Frankie?”, he asks.
I narrow my eyes suspiciously.
“Who are you? And why are you looking for Frankie?”, i ask.
“Well my neighbor Annette told me her niece is coming to stay with her. But she hates the airport so she asked if I’d be willing to pick her niece up”, he tells me.
I nod. He smiles. He grabs my luggage as I end my conversation with my dad. He leads me to a truck with one of those extended cabs. He puts my bags in and opens my door.
“I’m Josh by the way. I’m 18 same as Annette says you are. I have two sisters both younger. My parents got married right out of high school. And we have a dog. How about you? Annette didn’t tell me much”, he says trying to make conversation.
“I don’t have any siblings or pets. It’s just me and my dad”, I say.
I leave out the part about the mansion and the guards and all the help. As I think of the guards I can’t help but think of Gio. My body is here but my heart is with him getting stomped on.
