The First Kill
Rose's POV
I got home and found my husband sitting and waiting for me. I could tell he was waiting for me because he was flipping his watch and gulping his drink in a way that looked like he was worried. He put on a light smile when he turned and saw me standing behind him.
"Here she comes, my princess, my lovely wife. I missed you.
Hudson’s face turned red when he came close and saw my swollen eyes and red cheek.
"Who did this to you, Rose? Hudson was ferocious; I could see his strong jawline. He folded his left arm in a bid to control his anger.
"How dare you ask me such a question, Hudson? Who else would have done this to me if not the man you pimped me to?
"You mean Lawrence did this to you?
Yes, Dickson, he hit me. Tears rolled down my face, and somehow it made Hudson aggravated.
"Get in the car; we need to visit him.
Hudson opened a safe in his bar and took out a gun. I've been in this house for a while, and I didn't even notice a safe in his bar, not to mention a gun. The safe was made in such a way that it matched the interior of the bar design that one would think it was just an ordinary design.
"What are you going to do, Hudson? My heart was filled with fear. I have never seen Hudson this angry. I wonder what he was going to do with the gun. Is he going to kill Lawerence? So many thoughts crossed my mind, and I couldn't control them.
"No one touches my woman except me; he crossed the line when he touched my wife; I'll make him pay; let’s go.
I watched as Hudson loaded his gun with bullets. He wasn't playing. Hudson c****d the gun as he headed toward the door.
"Please don't do anything crazy; you'll get into trouble.
"I love trouble, Rose.
Hudson led the way to the car, and as I followed, it was a silent trip to Lawrence’s house. I could see Hudson’s hand vibrating as he was driving. I have never seen him that way before. We finally arrived at Lawerence's house, and Hudson came down angry as he walked towards the door.
Hudson, my friend, you didn't tell me you were coming; did your wife forget something?
Hudson moved closer to Lawrence and hit him with the tail of his gun. Fear gripped me when I saw Lawrence fall to the ground. I thought he was dead. I was shaking where I stood.
Hudson, what the hell was that?
"How did you hit my wife, Lawrence?
"Is that why you are furious? You don't even love this b***h.
Hudson started beating Lawerence until he started bleeding, and for some strange reason, I was happy Lawerence was still alive. Lawrence’s guards started coming out, and Hudson engaged in hand combat and beat all of them. I was already hiding behind the couch, shaking and praying for this whole drama to be over, when Hudson called me out. He walked to Lawerence and pulled his head up, facing me.
"Now I apologize to her.
I'm sorry I hit you, Rose.
It's OK; I forgive you, Lawrence. I couldn't stop my legs from shaking; I just saw the other side of Hudson. I didn't know my husband could do martial arts.
"Let’s go, Rose. I was happy that the drama was finally over. As we turned to leave, Lawrence started laughing awkwardly. I wonder what was funny. Hudson and I turned.
"Your wife is just a w***e! I enjoyed f*****g her. I'll make sure I kill her the next time I have her.
"Meet your father in hell. Hudson shot Lawerence twice in the chest. I felt life leave me for a few seconds; I had just witnessed a man's death; I'd never seen anyone being shot; I was in trouble; I didn't just marry a pervert, but a killer; from the way Hudson shot Lawerence, I could tell it wasn't his first time killing someone; he shot effortlessly. My life is in danger. What if Hudson wakes up one morning and decides to kill me? I am doomed.
"You didn't have to kill him, Hudson; you are in trouble. The police will look for you. You are going to jail, Hudson. I couldn't contain myself; I was just yelling at the top of my voice as Hudson drove off.
"You seem to forget who I am, Rose; I didn't get to this position in my life by being soft. Nothing is going to happen; just get a hold of yourself and chill. I have half of this city under my control.
How did you learn how to fight Hudson?
"My father taught me; he used to be a very dangerous man, and I took after him.
Enough of the questions and answers, Rose; you need to be with someone tomorrow, so save your energy.
"I see why you married me, Hudson; I am not a toy, and I won't do it.
"What Lawerence did to you is nothing compared to what I will do to you if you even oppose me again. Rose, I hate hitting women because it gets bad and bloody if I do.
I couldn't say a word; I feared for my safety. I cannot run and hide; all I can do throughout the ride is look outside the window and allow tears to roll down my face freely. Hudson wants to turn me into a w***e overnight.
I didn't regret marrying him, though; this is the price I have to pay to get my family out of poverty. It is a very costly price, one that will take away my happiness, freedom, and peace of mind for the rest of my life. I wonder what Patrick is doing right now and why he hasn't looked for me.
We got home, and Hudson made his way to his chambers without saying a word to me. The house was quiet; all the domestic staff had retired for the night. I headed straight to the bathroom to wash away all my sorrows. I stood under the shower, lost in my feelings, trying to process everything that happened that day.
I suddenly felt someone’s hand on my waist. This cannot be Hudson; his hands are softer than this. My heart trembled when I turned and saw who was standing behind me.
