First Encounter
Rose’s POV.
Words fail me to express the shock I felt when my father told me that his boss, Mr. Hudson, spent 1 million dollars organizing this banquet. What a waste of money! He is celebrating a contract worth 10 billion dollars awarded to his company. That is huge, I must say.
But I still don't understand why he would spend such an amount on an event. Why didn't he just give this money to charity? The event had less than 200 people in attendance, and I wondered why it cost that much.
Well, I must face the business that pays me. I'm only here to serve drinks and get paid so I can assist my father with paying my sister’s hospital bills. I hope she recovers quickly because her health is deteriorating and her illness is eating deep into my father’s finances.
I watched as my dad drank wine and danced to the slow music. For a moment, all his worries were gone. I grew up without a mother, and I saw my father work very hard to make sure I and my sister had a comfortable life, but things changed when Ashly was diagnosed with kidney disease. My dad had been spending money to make sure she was okay, but her health was becoming worse.
I have never seen Mr. Hudson in person, but I have heard he is so rude and strict. But at least he was kind enough to let his staff attend his party; that should count for something.
My feet were already aching from excessive standing, so I decided to take a 10-minute break to ease my ankles. Mrs. Anabel didn't even allow me to rest for 30 seconds when she came to tap my shoulders.
Rose, can you please help me get Mr. Hudson’s complimentary card case? He left it in his room.
I didn't understand why she was sending me this, even though she was the organizer of the event. My job here is to serve food and drinks.
"Rose, he needs it urgently; here is the room key. Hurry!
As I collected the key and entered the elevator that led to Hudson’s room, I was in awe. This is truly a mansion. Why would a single man live in such a big house? I entered his room, and it felt like I had left Earth.
I've never seen a room this big. Mr. Hudson is living the life; his walk-in closet is filled with lavish brands. From his clothes to his watch collections, everything speaks luxury.
I was staring at the paintings on the wall. I wish my father was as wealthy as Mr. Hudson. I was lost in my thoughts. My heart almost jumped out of my chest when I heard a voice behind me.
"I got that painting from an artist in France; he is not so famous, but he is talented, I must say. It cost me $650,000. I see you like it; you’ve been staring at it for a minute. What are you doing here?
"I’m sorry, sir; Mrs. Anabel asked me to come get your card case; I was just lost at the moment.
"I've been waiting for it. Do I know you? You don't look familiar.
"My name is Rose; I am Mr. Austine’s daughter, and I work as a waitress at the banquet.
"Oh wow! I didn't know my gardener had another daughter; I do not see you around, just your sister Ashly.
"I’m in school; I am in my final year, and I will be returning tomorrow.
Mr. Hudson walked towards me and held me firm in his right arm as he looked directly into my eyes. His perfume was to die for; he smelled like oud with a little vanilla scent. It was enticing, and I couldn't look into his eyes; I was scared too."Do you have a boyfriend, Rose?
Yes, I do, sir. Why do you ask?
"You look lonely; your eyes are yearning for touch and attention.
Mr. Hudson fixed his gaze on me. I was uncomfortable. He was right, though; my relationship with Patrick is as good as dead. He cheated on me, but I forgave him, and we continued our relationship, but it wasn't as rosy as it used to be.
"I like your breasts; they are round and firm. Someday, I will plant my lips on them. You may leave now, but next time, do not touch my stuff.
Mr. Hudson is such a pervert; I cannot believe he said all of those things to me. He was already undressing before I left the room; he was so shameless. My heart was beating faster than usual as I left the room. He is so pompous. I hate how he talks; he sounds like he can buy the world.
No wonder he is still single. I’m glad the party is finally over. I gulped down the remaining champagne I didn't serve as I packed my stuff and left.
