Rebecca’s POV The forest felt nothing like the stories I grew up hearing about. The surroundings felt way scarier. As a child, I used to imagine ancient woods filled with moonlight and quiet magic shining in the midnight, and maybe even scary ancient animals walking into our town and leaving before the new day came. Child's play, I thought to myself. This place was different, it felt alive in a different way. Darker. The trees were high endlessly above us, their twisted branches out most of the morning light. Roots were obvious across the ground like traps waiting to catch careless feet, and every sound seemed unnaturally loud in the endless silence between the trunks and echoing in one uncomfortable way. We had been walking since before dawn. No one complained. Not even me. T
