Nate looked confused. “Why would you?” “Because I respect you and the sacrifice you made for this country,” Millhouse said solemnly and Ryan wished he hadn’t. Nate did not like being reminded of his missing legs, or the fact that the years of service have cost him a relationship with his daughter. For the first time in weeks, Nate seemed to have forgotten about it while he spoke to Millhouse. Now his eyes were clouding over and a shadow seemed to have fallen over his face. “Good,” Nate managed to say. “And now if you’ll excuse me, I have another matter that needs my attention,” Millhouse said and stood up. “I’ll be in touch in the next couple of days.” “I’ll hold you to that,” Nate said. “Just please find my daughter.” Millhouse nodded and stood aside so Nate could wheel himself out
