The initial cavern gave way to a massive, sprawling labyrinth of identical, twisting corridors. Tunnels branched off in three, four, sometimes five different directions, all of them coated in the same glittering, weeping silver ore. I chose the widest path, letting my little candle illuminate the darkness, my heart pounding with a mixture of anticipation and rising anxiety. I walked for what felt like hours. The winding path spiraled deeper into the mountain, intersecting with other tunnels, looping back on itself in a maddening, chaotic maze. Every turn looked exactly the same. Every corridor was just an endless stretch of cold rock and glittering silver. Where are the totems? I thought, my brow furrowing as I stopped at yet another dead end.
