Ryan Locke froze, the slice of toast that was his breakfast inches from his mouth, as he watched the local news. The news frequently left him amazed at the things humans were capable of doing to one another; on this occasion, though, what he felt went beyond amazement, he was stunned, there was no other word for it.
He could honestly say that even with all the things his friend had got mixed up in, he had never expected to hear his name on the news as a suspect in a crime, at least not for anything more serious than a driving offence, or maybe a drunken prank.
