20 Despite a weekend away to settle himself and put what had happened from his mind, Jez felt uncomfortable as he entered his flat. He started towards the master bedroom, to rid himself of the bag he had taken to his parents on his impromptu visit, but couldn’t bring himself to enter the room where he had killed Ellen Powers. He turned away and dropped the bag by the sofa, he then made his way into the kitchen, so he could pour himself a drink. He filled a tumbler with two fingers of whiskey, half of which was gone in a single gulp, and carried the bottle with him as he returned to the living room.
