I wasn’t sure what to make of Elias. Every time I saw him, my emotions were a tangled mess. He had given me protection when I had nowhere else to turn, but I couldn’t forget that he was the enemy—the one who had stolen what was supposed to be mine. Yet, there was something about him. A flicker of something that made my heart beat a little faster when he looked at me. I didn’t want to admit it, but I couldn’t ignore it.
