I spotted Elias leaning against the far column, arms crossed, eyes burning into me. His silence was louder than any command he’d ever given. The traitor—Jarred—was on his knees in front of me, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth, but his smirk never faded. “I should have killed you the moment I sensed your hesitation,” Elias muttered. “You needed me,” Jarred spat, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “And now you’ve got her to whisper orders in your ear.” Elias stepped forward, and I reached out, stopping him with a hand on his chest. “No. Let me.” His brows rose slightly, but he didn’t argue. I turned to Jarred. “You sold out your Alpha. Risked your pack. Why?” He scoffed. “Because he forgot what this pack stood for before you showed up.” “And what’s that?” I asked.
