I waited it out. I didn't want to comply to him in my office. But I knew he wasn't joking, his tone of voice was serious. I knew I would have to go to the meeting as requested or I would have hell to pay. I waited till exactly ten minutes was up, partly because I didn't want to seem eager and submissive but also because my heart was still beating furiously. The walk to the conference room was a brutal one. I was scared. Why are you scared you wimp? He can't do anything to you. My inner self sneered. But she was right. He couldn't do anything to me. I straightened my back with that thought and put my hand on the cold door knob. Just as it was yanked open by a fuming Christopher Rodgers. "You're late." He snapped. "This is my office, I show up when I want. Especially to appointments I don't care for." I snapped back, pushing past him. He gripped my wrist quickly, yanking me back a few inches in front of his face. "You will care about this meeting, because I say so." He growls. "Get over yourself Christopher." I roll my eyes yanking my wrist back with a harsh glare. He looked surprised for a second then the fire was back in his eyes. I took a seat at the front of the long table and he sat on my right. "What is it you need again Mr.Rogers?" I asked, a bored look sat on my face but inside I was jumping with happiness for standing up to him. "You heard me over ten minutes ago Sweetheart. I want your company to build a high end place for my people to shoot their movies." "First of all don't ever call me that again. Second I'm sure you heard me over ten minutes ago when I said I build movie theatres and not the places where movies are filmed. Anything else?" I asked dismissively. "Don't dismiss me like a child Rose, I'm willing to offer a very good deal. One that you couldn't not accept." He smirked. "Once again, don't call me that. My name is Rosie, and you will address me as Ms. Marie." I snapped. "Rose," He drawled out, "You need this job to officially become a high end business, plus you would be expanding. It's a win win for both of us really." "No. I have already made my decision with the people you sent away, they were going to rocket me to exactly where I needed to be in this business. I don't need your help." A smirk appears on his face again and he nods his head, I could practically see the gears turning in his head. To my surprise he turned to me with the smile of a cheshire cat on his face. "Agreed, Rose." I masked the shock on my face and the curiosity in my head. Why was he giving in so easy? Oh well, less hassle for me. He gathered his things and held a hand out to me. I stared at it before he reached down and grabbed my hand, pulling me up to him. He was around five inches taller than me so I looked up at him, wondering what he was doing. "I'll see you, Rose." He leaned down and whispered in my ear. I shivered and leaned backwards on the table. He smiled one last time, exiting the board room. ..... I was feeling weird. Weird enough to drink. Which was an oddity for me. I didn't drink because wasn't drinking supposed to be with friends? Something I didn't have. I laugh dryly and take another drink of the fireball sitting in front of me. I was starting to feel funny, drunk and giggly I assumed. Even the dance floor was spinning. I used the very last common sense I had in my brain to drain the rest of the alcoholic drink and dial a taxi to take me home. When I arrived I sat on the front step of my very nice condominium. My legs felt like jelly and I didn't feel like moving. I sat there for who knows how long before as brightly colored hair girl came and sat down next to me. "You good?" She asked, pulling out a ciggarete and lighting it up. "Those are death machines." I slurred at her. "Oh a sad drunk girl, I see." She laughed and patted me on the back. "Tell Lila what's wrong." She said. "No one has ever asked me what's wrong before." I slurred again, leaning on her shoulder. "Well I guess I'll be the first." "How do I know you won't leak it to the press?" I asked. "My dad is the owner of this building and many more and I am the crazy and wild daughter always messing up the family name and ruining my reputation. I know plenty about press and if there's one thing you can trust, I won't leak anything." The truth in her voice was apparent, or so my drunk mind thought so I spilled everything inside me. I told her about my high school experience with Christopher, and why I workout, and about my family, and ending with Christopher from high school showing up at the office and the craziness of it all. "Whoa girl, you are a mess." She laughed at the end. I had sobered up a little so I laughed with her. Then the laughing turned into full on cackling and hysterics. "What are you doing tomorrow?" I asked her when we were done. "Nothing, I don't work mainly just walk around town and do whatever. It's quite boring actually." She sighed. "You should come work for me." I stated simply. "Work?" She said the word almost sounding disgusted. "Okay, I won't pay you if you don't want. It could be like the place where you "hangout." But you could be my first friend and we can 'work' together and you can come over all the time, and stuff." Was I sounding crazy? "Are you serious? I don't have friends either. Of course, drunk girl, I'll be your friend!" She giggled. "I'm Rosie." I stuck my hand out for her to shake and she shook her head and pushed it away, standing up and engulfing me in a hug. I stood frozen for a minute before hugging her back. "Lila and Rosie take on the world." She giggled.
