Chapter 2 Hunter and Werewolf

1290 Words
Alanna screamed, "Help me! Please, I'm being..." Before she could finish, the man quickly covered her mouth again. "Shh, shh, sweetheart, easy now. Look at me," he gasped, taking deep breaths with his eyes shut as if struggling to restrain something. When he reopened them, Alanna noticed that the redness in his eyes was fading. The man named Quinn relaxed his stance. "Sorry, miss, I had a bit too much to drink and got dizzy. You won't hold my rashness against me, will you?" How could she not? This hulking werewolf still had his hand over her mouth! Alanna couldn't voice her thoughts, so she just glared at him with her caramel eyes in protest. The man chuckled again, noticing the documents scattered on the floor. He picked them up and shook them at Alanna. "An experimental report? Looks important, right... Alanna?" Alanna panicked and questioned the man's purpose with her gaze, her eyes filling with tears. Leaning close to her ear, the man said deliberately, "To make up for my earlier clumsiness, Alanna, I could deliver your report to Mr. Mode and put in a good word for you. I'm sure he won't hold the delay against you." He then continued, "And you just need to leave everything that happened behind this door." He was blackmailing her with the report! Just as Alanna was about to protest, she suddenly realized that despite all the noise, it was eerily quiet outside the door! Apparently, relying on his subordinate outside for help was futile, and she shouldn't provoke this formidable opponent further. Under the man's watchful eyes, Alanna slowly bowed her head, her body trembling, relinquishing all attempts to struggle. The man then released her, allowing Alanna to regain her freedom. After straightening his clothes and resuming his gentlemanly demeanor as if nothing had happened, Quinn opened the door. But before leaving, he turned back to give Alanna a chuckle. "Farewell, Alanna, you are quite tasty." It wasn't exactly a compliment, especially not when said by someone licking his sharp teeth! The door closed, and Alanna could only lean against it while panting, feeling utterly drained. From outside came soft voices. "Mr. Ryder, are you alright?" "Bring me another dose of the potion," the man ordered. "Right away, sir." The voices faded away. "Ryder?" Alanna's attention was caught again by that name. She opened the door and rushed out, only to see the strapping man walking towards the auditorium with school officials. Fuming, Alanna realized he was the VIP at today's lab donation ceremony, the CEO of Blackstone Group, Quinn Ryder! No wonder he used the report to blackmail her! "Ouch!" The pain in her shoulder intensified. Pulling down her collar to check, she found two small puncture wounds oozing blood. Again, she confirmed her thought. "Quinn Ryder, the CEO of Blackstone Group, is a powerful werewolf. He almost lost control but managed to regain his composure through sheer willpower. I'm no match for him." Watching his figure disappear into the dusk, she scoffed at herself, "His rank must be frighteningly high, probably beyond my jurisdiction. I just need to keep an eye on those indiscriminate werewolf hunters and stop them from doing anything stupid." Just then, her phone buzzed with a specific alert. "Oh, damn it... Just as I was saying it!" The full moon night had come. It was time for her to head out. Without hesitation, Alanna turned and left. Unknown to her, as she turned away, Quinn suddenly looked back, his expression tinged with a trace of doubt. "Is she the one? My destined..." Quinn absentmindedly twisted the moonstone bracelet on his left wrist. Since the moment they met, the gem had grown hot, which was an unusual sign. He received this gift when he was just a kid, and back then, he was rather skeptical. His grandfather had told him that this bracelet would help him sense his destined mate. However, it was just a belief from ancient times that nobody hardly held anymore! With his wealth and status, he could have anyone he desired, and he wore it only because it was a keepsake from his grandfather. It must be the full moon that almost made him lose control. That Alanna couldn't possibly have anything to do with it. Quinn shook his head, convincing himself not to dwell on the heated moonstone. ***** As the roar of a motorcycle echoed under the full moon, Alanna, clad in black riding gear and humming a catchy pop tune, passed through a dark alley when she heard unusual sounds—brazen laughter and suppressed moans of pain. Two young men with braided hair were pinning down a pleading young girl. One, with green braids, brandished a knife, slashing the girl's body until blood flowed, and she nearly passed out. "Hey, aren't you gonna turn into a she-wolf? We've never tasted a she-wolf before. Must be thrilling..." "Hear that? Show that ass to Daddy! We'll take turns filling you up... Oh, f**k!" Before he could finish his curse, the green-haired youth was kicked flying by a sudden strike from the darkness, screaming and rolling until he hit a trash can and passed out. Alanna's graceful figure gradually emerged, her gaze icy as she looked down at the stunned redhead, declaring, "Typical of you, Crazy Robin Hoods. Or should I call you Cowardly Robin Hoods? You're no match for real werewolves, so you quailed and tortured the innocent unawakened instead." The redhead, terrified by his unconscious companion, knew he was no match for the young woman before him. "Mind your own business, b***h! f**k you!" In his rage, the redhead grabbed the bleeding, unconscious girl and hurled her at Alanna as a weapon! As Alanna caught the girl, the redhead jumped on his motorcycle and sped away, decisively abandoning his green-haired friend. "Coward, you won't get far!" Alanna quickly finished off the green-haired one and then reported the location on her phone. Someone would soon come to help the poor girl. Mounting her motorcycle, Alanna chased after the redhead. ***** Meanwhile, a dark grey Rolls Royce Phantom drove through the streets a few blocks away. Quinn sat in the back seat, rubbing his temples while trying hard to suppress the restlessness inside him. Just now, he had barely shown his face at the school's donation dinner and left immediately. Today was unusual. Although he usually felt restless on full moon nights, it had never been like this. He had already taken two doses of the suppressant, yet the inner heat seemed eager to burst through his body. Could it have been because of that girl, the so-called destined one? Ridiculous! Quinn immediately dismissed the thought. Perhaps the suppressant's concentration was off, and he just needed to adjust the formula. ***** As the traffic merged onto the Brooklyn Bridge, two motorcycles zipped past the Phantom and onto the bridge. The roar of the bikes made Quinn even more irritable. He pressed his temples, muttering a curse. Bothered by distraction, he failed to notice that, after entering the bridge, two SUVs quietly flanked his vehicle from both sides. A certain distance ahead of Quinn, the two motorcycles were engaged in a fierce chase. Alanna was about to catch up to the redhead. Stabilizing her motorcycle, she was about to kick the redhead off when a sharp noise came from behind her! In an instant, she turned to see three vehicles colliding in a chain reaction. The left SUV unexpectedly swerved into the Phantom, which, trying to avoid the impact, was struck hard by the right SUV. Sparks flying, the Phantom lost control, rolling directly towards Alanna! In the blink of an eye, the Phantom was about to crash right into her face!
