After the girl had spoken to Ethan, she continued taking her way back to her house.
She spoke with him long enough that she didn't noticed the incoming sunset. The road was dark, making the atmosphere grew in silence. The coldness, beginning to make the breeze chiller than the usual air of the evening.
Addie sighed, producing some amount of smoke from her mouth as a sign of the cold night. She coiled her arms around her body, rubbing her biceps to make friction and give her at least a little heat thinking that her mother might've been worried. She thought for an excuse next, after all she cannot say that she met a person who told her that she doesn't have soul. Her mother may over react once she finds out about it. Or maybe she doesn't need to tell her at all any lying excuses that she doesn't often do and just apologize for being late and go straight to bed to think about it again.
She stopped upon facing her house. It was kinda weird to notice that the lights hasn't lit up yet. Was her mother late from work? Or was she asleep that early. She didn't know.
But it almost felt like she doesn't want to enter there. It almost felt like she's not in her real house. That place doesn't look safe. That house has something that made her feel the uneasiness inside her body. She feel extremely nervous just facing the place.
What's making her feel that way? What's keeping her nailed on the ground? What's stopping her from entering?
Scared? The voice told her inside her head. You won't know unless you're not feeling like a coward. The voice faded like a whisper.
She shook her head, looking determined as she made her way inside the front yard. 'Hold yourself together Addie, this is just a normal day.' then she gripped the cold knob.
That's it. Just open it and you'll see. The voice appeared again.
"Right." Addie said as if she replied to the voice that bugs her mind. She turned the knob as the door opened. "Mom?" she called out as her voice echoed all over the house. She fully opened the door as the street light in front of their house illuminated inside the open door creating a shadow for her.
The house was silent still.
Addie entered as she raise her hand trying to poke the light from the direction she'd remember it was suppose to be. "Mom?" She called again but only her echo replied.
She found the lamp making her sigh with ease as she pulled it on.
"Guess mom's still not here." She whispered to herself as she started walking, making her way to her room. But upon taking the stairs up, she noticed a light over the kitchen floor. It wasn't that strong that she guessed it was a light from a phone or maybe something else. She didn't continue walking up but made her direction to that little light in the kitchen. "Mom , is that you?" She tried to call again as she approached it.
Still no one replied.
She was two more steps ahead of the kitchen when she felt her hair rose in terror. Was that... blood? She blinked twice hoping that what she saw was just water. And when she looked at it the second time, it was still blood.
Feeling her tears started corrupting her eyes, she went closer. Knees trembling with her sweat dropping down her chin. The last step when she reached the kitchen, her legs collapsed making her seat in the floor, eyes looking at her dead mother not believing it. Her tears finally escaped from he eyes like an overflowing dam as she screamed in agony and fear.
Not from afar, Blade and Ethan are standing. Close enough to hear the girl's scream, and hidden enough not to be seen by any of the neighborhood who came to give the girl an aid.
The ambulance came after awhile. Police cars parked taking images from the house. While Addie, still shocked from what she witnessed.
"It's begun." Ethan said amused. "You'll finally be able to try how useful she is once her mother's soul completely fuses with her body."
Blade didn't reply from his explanation and just watched the girl. Still her tears hasn't stop. It maybe cruel for him to kill her foster mother, but in the first place, she was just a human slave who stole Addie from Ethan. She deserves that punishment...
