Chapter 10: Badass Boss cries?

1259 Words
"What now?" Allison whined feeling irritated by the sudden loss of contact between their lips and so, she tried connecting their lips again but Nelson dogged it before stating the obvious, "You where cheating on me with other guys which I never caught on till you decided to seduce Gabriel on our anniversary day, right?". "Now, you finally get the gist" she confirmed nonchalantly without batting an eye and she went further to explain, "I called you on several occasions with different guys at my disposal but you seemed to love your work more and never showed up and I ended up f***king them instead. Well you should thank me for making it more bearable by choosing someone that resisted my seduction for you to see". "W..why?" Nelson choked out as tears were already brewing in his eyes threatening to fall. Even though he appeared to be cold hearted and insensitive as if nothing ever appeals or gets to him, yet his weakness was currently sitting on his desk with his heart in her hands; shattering it into thousand pieces. When it comes to her, he never hides any form of vulnerability which she had a record of.  "Why, you ask?" She retorted as she stared intensely at Nelson with a raised brow while he gazed back at her in confusion as if demanding for clarification. She hopped down from the desk and walked toward the window ignoring the demanding gaze from the man in front of her. Upon getting close to the window, she remained silent for a while then turned around to face Nelson again before speaking, "You turned me into the despicable being that l am right now; l had to resolve to stupid measures jut to get your attention. Does it make sense?" She laughed sarcastically before throwing Nelson a pitiful look that made him to shiver a little and then she spoke again, "Look at you, still lonely after l broke your f***king ass off" Nelson couldn't say anything than to stare at the woman he loved and cared so much for with a wide eye as if she was crazy, and he couldn't help but wonder what might have changed her to that extent because it definitely wasn't because of him. He wasn't given the chance to dwell on that as Allison walked back to the desk and grabbed her purse, she brought out a beautifully designed gold envelope and mere looking at it you could easily guest what was inside. She handed the envelope to him and said, "Here is my invitation card, Smith. It's going to take place on the third of June and you should make sure to be there." Hearing these words made the tears in Nelson's eyes to fall freely from his eyes without restraint. "So, you came here to break my heart for the second time?" He asked bitterly with a cracked voice while he tried to blink the tears away and then looked at her properly, only then did he notice what he couldn't earlier. "Yes" Allison replied firmly before stumping out his office as quickly as she could.          Nelson fell back onto his chair as he held the part where his heart is located and cried bitterly; even a bad ass Boss could give way to tears when it comes to the matters of the heart, right?. It was so painful, he never knew that he still loved and adored her so dearly until that very moment and how could he be so carried away to the extent that he never bothered to give her a proper look, he could have seen the ring that fitted and balanced well on her ring finger earlier when she walked into his office. He blamed his body that reacted so quick to her touch and himself for acting on impulse and now that it backfired, he had to endure what he went through a year ago; a round two broke up and heartbreak. What a tenacious love! He opened his drawer and brought out a ring and sighed in disappointment after staring at it for a while. With his hands in his trouser pocket, Nelson strolled down the streets as the cool night breeze slightly blew on him and equally messing up his well-arranged pitch black hair and he had a deja vu feeling. It was as if history was repeating itself again which brought back some memories that made him to laugh unknowingly. A year ago, Nelson once strolled along the streets one certain night so as to receive a fresh air and let all the heart ache out. Then, he met a young lady that night that also got drunk because of the same reason; their boy/girlfriend actually dumped them. As a rich man and powerful man that jumped from one luxurious car to another, and owned a mighty bar himself, you could say that they weren't supposed to meet each other on a normal occasion because he doesn't hang out in such a local bar. But as fate would have it, he decided to branch into a random bar, and that was when he saw a lady drinking alone by the corner while she was crying, and because he had alcohol in his system, he walked up to her without a second thought.  She on the other hand, was already drunk to the extent that she forgot herself and started to cry in public, and it was also the reason why she didn't recognize the man that sat down opposite her but Nelson did. As the two conversed with each other, one topic led to another until Nelson suddenly turned into a guardian angel. He promised to protect her in his own way and that was exactly what he has been doing, bribing her blind dates or any man that wanted to go out with her, asking them to leave her alone and they did so after receiving a huge sum of money from him. They simply couldn't resist the temptation, a test from Nelson. As he thought of all this, he never knew when his legs carried him to that same bar until he got inside and heard the sound of music, and that wasn't a problem at all but the person in his sight was. He stood there with his hands still in his trousers pocket, mouth wide open with his eyes almost falling out from their sockets as he stared at that same young lady sitting at the same spot with so many bottles of beer missing their contents.  Olivia was there again but this time around, she wasn't crying but was just gazing at her phone expectantly probably waiting for an important call. "Hey, can I sit with you?'' Nelson asked nervously because it seems that she wasn't that drunk to entertain strange visitors. Although he has been meeting up with her in this same bar any day she felt like drinking, this was the second time he met her there without having it in mind to. In fact, he doesn't even come to this place unless to stalk her there. Olivia stared at the stranger in front of her from head to toe with a dropped jaw before gesturing him to sit with her hand which Nelson appreciated by saying, "Thanks". "You're welcome, but l remember you" Olivia blurted out suddenly startling Nelson which caused him to shudder slightly thinking that she might have discovered the little secret between them and so, he stuttered, "W-where?"
