Chapter 13: His what?

4637 Words
I woke up to the sound of a door being slammed shut, my eyes felt heavy and restless today. I got up and went to the bathroom, doing my morning business. My room was dark and I looked at the clock, 9:43 was displayed on the front, telling me it was morning time. I walked over to the window and peered, noticing it was cloudy outside. There must be a storm coming, something I always looked forward too. The rain, the crackling thunder and the bright strikes of lightning, always brought me a sense of peace. I opened my bedroom door and looked around the hallway, but it was empty, walking over to Damon’s room, I hesitated, not sure if I wanted to bother him. I decided against it and decided to go get some breakfast first. The house seemed rather quite this morning, making me feel a bit uneasy, as I strolled through the hallways. I went into the kitchen and there stood Samantha. She glared at me, as I entered the room, but I ignored her and continued going about, trying to find something quick to eat.  I could feel her eyes burning into the back of my head, as I moved around the kitchen. Finally deciding on some oatmeal, I grabbed everything out and started to prepare my food. After the water had boiled, I poured it into the bowl and stirred my oatmeal around, walking over and sitting down at one of the stools. I did my best to ignore her, but that was like trying to ignore a pink elephant in the room. She walked over to me and slammed her coffee cup on the counter. I looked up at her and raised a brow “Something on your mind?” I asked her. She narrowed her eyes “I don’t know why my brother is keeping you here and hasn’t killed you yet, but I will find out and when I do, I’ll gladly take care of you myself.” She said with a sadistic smile. Apprehension slid into the pit of my stomach, at the thought of what she made to do to me, but I knew Damon would protect me, I felt it in my bones “I don’t know why he is keeping me here and I am going home in a few days, I promise you that.” I assured her, but I guess that wasn’t the answer she was seeking. She snorted “Lying won’t help you, I know something is up, but in the meantime, stay away from me and my brother.” She sneered, before stomping out of the room. I released the breath I was holding in, letting the uneasy feeling melt away, the further she got from me. After I had finished my breakfast, I cleaned up my mess and went back up to my room, but stopped before going in. I stood there in the hallway, biting my lip and hesitating to go in my room. I looked over at Damon’s bedroom door, curious if he was in there and what he was doing. I wanted to finish what we had started yesterday, but maybe, it was a good thing that we hadn’t gone through with it, as it may make leaving here more difficult. The attraction I felt towards Damon, was unlike anything I had ever experienced, the butterflies I felt in my stomach when I was with him, was overwhelming to say the least. I didn’t understand why I was feeling this way, but I would be going home soon and acting on these feelings was probably not a good idea. I walked into my room and got dressed, deciding that I wanted to go see Trevor, as I hadn’t seen him since the night at the club. I threw on a pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt, then left my room once again. As I was walking down the stairs, I bumped into Luca, almost falling on my ass. Thankfully he had caught me, before I could make a complete fool of myself. Luca’s arms were wrapped around my waist, holding me tightly and keeping me from falling “Are you ok?” He asked, as he stared down at me with me a concerned expression. Luca lifted me up and back onto my feet, but didn’t let me go. I was feeling uneasy now, having another man touch me. I nodded my head, then cleared my throat “Yes, I am fine, thank you.” I said, avoiding his gaze. I wiggled in arms slightly, trying to get him to release me, but he didn’t let go and his arms remained wrapped around my body, that was until a loud growl filled the air. I whipped my head around to see Damon standing there, looking furious. His hands were balled up at his sides and his jaw clenched tightly “What is going on here?” He asked, restrain in his tone. Luca finally let go of me and I took a step back from him “Nothing, Alpha. Amelia here had bumped into me and I caught her before she fell.” Luca informed Damon, but that didn’t seem to be a sufficient enough answer. Damon walked closer to us, now standing inches away from me and the heat between my thighs returned. My breathing hitched and my heart rate spiked, unable to control the s****l urge building within me. Damon placed a hand on the small of my back, causing me to still and bite my lip, but that did little to help in distracting me from his touch. “Thank you, Luca. You can go now.” Damon said, in a clipped tone. Luca nodded and bowed, before exiting the room, leaving Damon and I alone, something I couldn’t handle right now. I took a step forward, needing to put distance between us, but Damon’s muscular arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me into him. My back collided, with his toned, abs and I could feel the hard erection in his pants, pressing against my ass, making things even hotter in here or was it just me? Damon leaned down “Is someone having an issue?” he whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine. I squirmed in his hold, but he only tightened his arm around me “I don’t know what you are talking about. Now, let me go?” I asked, my voice shaky. He chuckled softly “I can smell your arousal, baby. I know you want me, just as bad as I want you.” He whispered seductively. I squeezed my eyes shut, as my chest rose and fell heavily “Damon.” I said softly, the urge for him to touch me, growing by the second. He released his hold on my waist and I put some much needed distance between us. I turned around to face him and he was standing there, looking down at me, with a grin spread across his face. I looked away from him, unable to focus or maintain myself, when he was looking so damn delicious. “Do you know where Trevor is? I would like to go see him.” I asked, changing the subject and creating a distraction from the tension in the room. His expression changed and now he seemed angry “I don’t know if I want you near Trevor, after what happened.” He said, his tone edgy and deep. I smiled, hoping to ease some of his worry “I promise, I won’t leave the grounds. I just want to visit with him, he is my friend and I miss him.” I told him honestly and I meant it. I hadn’t seen him in a while and he had been nothing but good to me. Damon narrowed his eyes, as he studied me “Fine, I’ll take you to see him, only because I have a lot to do today and I’d rather you not be alone. But I’m warning you Amelia, you are not to leave the grounds or go anywhere else. Remember I will find you and I won’t hesitate to spank that ass of yours for disobeying me.” He said with promise and I squeezed my thighs together, at the thought of him spanking me. I nodded in agreement “Thank you and I won’t, I promise.” I said, assuring him that I wouldn’t go against his wishes, even though I was intrigued about his promise to punish me. He studied me for another moment, his eyes boring into mine “Come on, he should be at his house.” We then left the main house and walked over to the other building that Damon had shown me before. We walked in silence, but stole glances at each other every few seconds. We entered the building and it was quiet, there was a few people sitting in the reading room, but they barely paid any attention to us. As we continued down the hall, I noticed a few more people that I had never seen before, some looked, some didn’t, but those that did, whispered to each other and scowled at me, as I walked beside their Alpha. I put my head down, feeling out of place and uneasy. We finally came to a stop, now facing a grey door and Damon knocked. A sleepy Trevor answered the door a moment later. He was rubbing his eyes, as he opened the door “Yea?” He said, before actually looking at us. His eyes widened and he straightened himself “Sorry Alpha, I didn’t see it was you at first.” He admitted, ashamed of himself. I peeked around Damon, excited to see my friend and his surprise didn’t disappoint. Trevor’s eyes almost bulged out of his head “Amelia!” He shrieked, before pulling me into him and squeezing the air out of my lungs. I giggled at his excitement and bubbly attitude “I’ve missed you Trevor, but I can’t breathe.” I said, while gasping for air. He released me and reared back “I’m so happy to see you.” Trevor said, tears brimming in his eyes. I smiled “Me too.” Damon cleared his throat behind me, catching our attention. “Remember what I said Amelia and Trevor, keep her safe.” He warned him, in a deadly tone.      We both nodded our heads in agreement “I will.” We both said in unison. Damon’s eyes flickered between us, a brow raised, before shaking his head and walking away. Trevor waved his hand “Come in, come in.” I walked into his home and instantly fell in love, the floors were hardwood, the walls painted a dark green, but not too dark. The lights were a vintage style and the furniture matched with everything perfectly, it was the home décor of my dreams. We walked over to the plush, grey colored couch and sat down. Trevor’s face softened a little “I have to get this off my chest, I am so sorry for what happened that night at the club, Amelia. I never should have taken you there.” He told me and his expression became one of solemn. I looked him dead in the eyes “Trevor, what happened that night, wasn’t your fault. Neither of us knew that something like that would happen and I don’t regret going there with you, as I had fun, before the incident.” I told him reassuringly, hoping he would stop blaming himself. I smiled at him, letting him know I was ok and he smiled back “Oh, I’ve missed you, Amelia.” Trevor said, before engulfing me in a hug. We stayed like that for a minute, before letting go. He gripped my hands in his, “So, how have things been?” He asked me in a giddy tone. I slowly nodded my head “They have been good, it’s been a bit hard getting used to things around here, but I am adjusting, slowly.” I said, chuckling, nervously. He smiled “Good, I’m glad to hear that. How have things been with Damon?” He asked curiously. I smiled, cheekily “Things have been good, they have also been trying with him.” I said, remembering the good times, the intimate times, but also the rough times. He raised a brow “Mhm, I bet they’ve been good.” He winked at me and I rolled my eyes “There’s been a few moments with him, that became very…heated and I feel something when I am with him. But there are also times when I feel like punching him in the throat, he makes me so angry.” I chuckled. Trevor snorted “You don’t have to tell me that, I can relate. Tell me more about what you feel with him?” He asked with a serious expression. I pursed my lips and thought about his question for a moment “Well, my stomach swirls, with excitement and so do other places.” I smirked “I feel comfortable and safe with him. When I am with him, it feels like home.” Saying it out loud, made everything all the more real, making me realize just how I truly felt towards Damon. Trevor’s expression softened and he looked away from me “That sounds a bit……intense.” He said it almost like a question and then looked back at me “If that is how you really feel, why haven’t you told him?” He asked me, while raising his brows questioningly. I c****d a brow “Who say’s I haven’t?” The idea of telling Damon how I feel, crossed my mind, but I feared his reaction. We were also two different people, from very different backgrounds. He snorted “Because I know you haven’t. You never know, his response may surprise you.” He smirked. I furrowed my brows “What do you mean by that?” I asked, as his words threw me off. He pursed his lips and then shook his head “Nothing, never mind. Let’s go to the lounge and play some pool.” He quickly said, practically leaping from the couch. He grabbed my hand and dragged me to the door. I chuckled at his evasive behaviour, avoiding my question like the plague. I decided to put things aside for now and have some fun with my friend.      We left Trevor’s place and headed for the game room, hoping a pool table was available, so we could play a couple of games, but as we rounded the corner, we came face to face with none other, than Mira. My good mood was gone in an instant, upon seeing her face, knowing that this encounter wouldn’t end well. Her face scrunched up in disgust, as her eyes landed on me “What the f**k are you doing here?” She sneered “And Trevor, why are you with her? Didn’t your mother teach you to not play with trash?” She said in a bitchy tone, trying to impress those around her. Trevor snorted “Amelia, is here with me and yes she did, why do you think I don’t play with you?” He retorted. Her eyes widened and she snarled “Excuse me? You will not speak to me like that, you runt and you.” She pointed to me “Need to leave, before I make you.” She growled out. Trevor stepped in front of me, blocking her from me “The Alpha brought her here to visit me, she does not have to leave because you say so and if you dare to hurt her, I’ll make sure the Alpha finds out and we don’t want that to happen, now do we?” He questioned her. She huffed in frustration “What the f**k is so special about that f*****g human anyways? Why is Damon so fascinated with her? She’s not even one of our kind and she isn’t his……” She stopped mid-sentence and narrowed her eyes at me, while studying me. Her eyes widened in astonishment, before a grin spread across her face, as if something clicked in her head “You’re his f*****g mate, aren’t you human?” She asked me. My brows pulled together in confusion “What are you talking about?” I asked her. She scoffed “It makes so much sense, as to why you are still here, still alive and…I can smell his scent on you. Also, he is very protective of you, which isn’t very common for our kind. I can’t believe I didn’t clue into this sooner. How f*****g sad.” She said aloud, disgust and anger lacing her tone. I remembered back to what Trevor had told me, regarding mates and as much as I didn’t want to, I had to agree with her. Everything she said was true and it all pointed to me being his mate, but how could that be possible? I am human and he…is not and why wouldn’t he have told me? Trevor looked back at me, a pitying expression on his face “She is not the Alpha’s mate, now back the f**k off Mira!” Trevor hollered at her, before turning to me and placing his hands onto my shoulders “Do you want to get out of here?” He asked me, but my mind was in a blur right now, trying to figure all of this out. I finally nodded my head, not wanting to be here anymore and Trevor led me back to his home. He closed the door and I took a seat on the couch, still reeling over everything. Trevor sat beside me “Are you alright darling?” He asked, concerned. I whipped my head to look at him “Am I Damon’s mate, Trevor? And don’t lie to me.” I glared at him, wanting the truth and not what he thought I needed to hear. His eyes avoided mine, glancing all around the room, before letting out a heavy sigh “To be honest, I am not sure, but the way he behaves with you, the way he looks at you…is something only mates do. Some of the pack members are curious and asking questions, as to whether or not you are.” He was being honest, even though he was reluctant to answer my question. I got up from the couch and began pacing in the room, as my mind was whirling with questions. Wondering, if I were his mate, is that the reason why he won’t let me go? Why I feel so much for him? Knowing there was only one person who could answer my questions, I rushed out of Trevor’s place, despite his pleas for me to come back and headed out to find Damon. I barged into the main house and made my way to Damon’s office, getting a little lost on the way, but eventually finding the right door. I halted in front of the door, as butterflies swarmed in my stomach and my nerves started to go hiatus. I sucked in a deep breath and knocked on the door. No one answered and I was about to knock again, when Luca opened the door “Hello Amelia, what can I do for you?” He politely asked me. I straightened myself “Where is Damon?” I asked him, my tone slightly clipped. He fully opened the door “He is right here.” He said, while gesturing to the big buffoon, that sat in the chair. I walked past Luca and entered the room, approaching Damon’s desk “We need to talk.” I said, while crossing my arms, telling him that I was pissed. He lifted his legs and planted his boots onto his desk, clasping his hands together in front of him “Then talk.” He said with a cocky smile, obviously getting a kick out of my angered state. I narrowed my eyes “Alone.” I said firmly, not wanting to discuss this in front of Luca. I wasn’t sure if he knew anything, but I didn’t want to take that chance and possibly tell him something that wasn’t his business. Damon’s eyes went to Luca and he nodded towards the door, indicating for him to leave. Luca then left the room, with a smirk on his face and closed the door behind him, leaving me alone with Damon now. “Am I your mate?” I asked him, getting straight to the point. His expression was neutral, as he stared at me. He took his feet down from the desk and sat up straight in his chair “Why would you think that?” He asked me curiously. I threw my hands up in the air “Because everyone in your pack seems to think so and from what Trevor told me, it adds up. Now, answer my damn question.” I shouted at him, not in the mood to play his stupid games and just wanting a straight answer from him. He stood from his chair and rounded the desk, then stalked towards me. Damon stopped a foot in front me and towered over me, his scent now invading my senses “f**k what the others think, what do you think?” He questioned me. I scowled at him “Damon, I told…” I didn’t get to finish my sentence, as his hand gripped the back of my head, bringing his lips to mine. The fire that ignited in my belly was instant, sparking to life from his touch, as he engulfed my mouth with his, kissing me hard and passionately. He finally pulled back and stared into my eyes “Yes, Amelia, you are my mate.” He told me and I gulped harshly. My brain couldn’t wrap around his words of truth, unable to comprehend the fact that I was his mate, bound to him for life, by a moon goddess. I stood there, mouth agape, as I tried to think of what to say “Why didn’t you tell me? Why did you hide this from me? And how am I your mate, if I am not one of your kind?” I fired off question, after question, needing answers. He took a step back and rubbed the nape of his neck “I didn’t tell you, for your own safety and I don’t know, there has been werewolves that were mated to humans before, but never one of Alpha bloodline.” He told me. I raised a brow “My own safety? What the f**k does that mean?” I asked him, bewildered. He sighed “As you have seen, humans and werewolves, don’t mix. We are supposed to mate with our own kind, especially if you are of Alpha blood. We are not too mate with a human, it is forbidden and is law for us not to do so.” His expression seemed pained, as if telling me this, hurt him. The realization of the situation, made my head spin “So, then, why haven’t you let me go?” I regretfully asked the question, not sure if I wanted the answer. His upper lip twitched “Because if I do, then I have to reject you as my mate, which could kill me or my wolf or both of us and……” He took a taunting step towards me “I don’t f*****g want to. You are mine and I’m not letting you go!” Damon’s eyes turned black and his words were possessive, making me quiver. I took a step back from him, my back hitting the wall, as I still had one more question and his intoxicating scent was distracting me “But what would happen if you mated with a human? Especially being an Alpha?”  His face fell and his eyes avoided my curious stare “My father would kill you, severing the bond between us and he would either kill me as well or lock me up for the remainder of my days, making me suffer in solitude.” His words hit me hard in the chest and my breath hitched at his honesty. I was pleased that he was being honest with me and answering my questions, but this was all too much, the severity of the situation was overwhelming. If Damon and I mated, one or both of us, may die. If Damon rejected me, he, his wolf or both of them, could possibly die and I wasn’t willing to risk that. I didn’t want anything to happen to him because of me. I didn’t know what to do or what to say, so I turned around, facing away from him now, as I tried to calm my erratic mind. His hand gently gripped onto my shoulder “Amelia.” He said softly and as much as I wanted to turn around, I needed some time to process all of this, alone. I raised my hand, silencing him “I need to be alone for a while.” I solemnly told him, almost regretting my choice. His hand slowly slid off my shoulder “I understand.” Was all he said, before taking a step back from me. I glanced over my shoulder at him and his jaw was tightly clenched, hands balled into fists at his side, making it quite clear that he was against this, but was respecting my wishes. I faced forward, staring at the door and hesitating to leave the room. I reluctantly walked to the door and swung it open, before walking out and into the hallway. I stopped in the hall, squeezing my eyes shut, as this felt worse than losing my parents. I was bound by fate, to a man I had just met, not so long ago and now, I have two choices, he dies, I die or we both die, no matter the choice, it doesn’t end well. I opened my eyes and spun on my heel, needing to get some distance between us. As I walked down the hallway, I got an ache in my chest and I couldn’t catch my breath for a split second. I stopped in my tracks, when I thought I heard something shatter into pieces and if I didn’t keep moving, I would turn back, giving into the desire.
