IT TOOK THIRTY minutes to wrap up at Navarro’s compound and another five and a half hours to make it back to DEA headquarters. A starry night sky accompanied us most of the trip as Deidra, Jessica, Sam, and I all rode in an unmarked SUV with two FBI agents. When we found a parking spot, we crowded out of the car. I walked to my Viper, circled the car, then rejoined the group. We all entered the elevator and rode to the fifth floor. Once there, Jessica took the two FBI agents to the break room while Deidra, Sam, and I went to the team’s office. Inside, waiting at Deidra’s desk, sat Anson. As we entered, he stood. “Is that…” he said with his silver eyebrows furrowed. “Yeah, Will,” Sam said with a smile as he made his way to Anson. “It’s me.” “My partner,” Anson said before the two embrace
