CHAPTER 8

"Why are you too kind to me, Mr. Evans?" Mr. Evans' generosity astounded me.

"Do I have to explain myself to you? Do you ever question people's willingness to assist you?" Mr. Evans inquired about me.

I shook my head and said, "Thank you for your help and for saving me again." Mr. Evans walked away from the room. And Jin brought me back to his house.

"Mikaella, clean yourself and take a rest first. It must tire you today. I will bring your meal later."

"Thank you, Jin."

I sleep deeply after my meal. Jin came to my room to check on me. In the morning, when I woke up, I saw Jin sitting in the chair beside me and holding my hand. I woke him up.

"Jin, your back might be in pain right now from sleeping while sitting." Jin opened his eyes and said, "I'm OK. Did you sleep enough, Mikaella?" He asked.

I nodded, and he stood up suddenly. "I'll make breakfast for you. Wash yourself and go down." He continued.

"Jin is very kind. I will hurriedly prepare myself to help Jin in the kitchen." I called Jin when I arrived in the kitchen. "Jin, may I assist you with breakfast preparation?"

"It will be ready soon. You don't have to do that." Jin rejected my offer, but I still insisted on it. "How about coffee? I can't sit still while you're preparing our breakfast." Jin smiled at me, and he agreed.

"Mikaella, what's your plan for today? Do you want to go out?"

"Yes, I will go out and find sick people. Jin, do you know a place where there are many poor people."

"Yes, I will accompany you there for your safety, as it is a suburban area. We had no idea what danger was on the way." I agreed and nodded to him.

We went down an alley in the suburbs and discovered that many people couldn't afford to go to the hospital. In exchange for keeping it a secret, I healed them one by one. But some people have malicious motives to gain more for their own needs, so I need to be careful.

Jin brought me back to his house to rest and left me alone. He has urgent work to do, according to him. And he told me not to wander for the time being. "Wait for me before you wander around, Mikaella. And do always lock all the windows and doors." Jin's last words before departing perplexed me. "Could something happen?"

One week later, Jin hadn't come back yet, and I was worried to death. "What had happened to him? Who should I contact to inquire about his situation?" I was anxious and walking around the house. "I didn't remember the exact location of their secret base. What should I do? I can't sleep at night either. Where is he now? I have a lot of questions, but who can answer them all?" My mind was in a mess. I didn't know who I could ask for help, so I went out looking for help. When I was about to go out of the gate, someone knocked me out.

I slowly opened my eyes to see where I was. I still felt the pain of someone hitting my back earlier.

"Where is this place? Why am I here? I'm being held in a cell. What happened?" I mumbled.

"Hello! Someone there?" I yelled at them, pleading for help.

"Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!" a man screamed.

"What was that scream?" As if he was in agony!

To make myself heard, I kept shouting inside the cell. A man suddenly appeared in front of me. He opened the cell and brought me somewhere. I asked him where he would bring me. But he didn't respond.

A man's voice screamed as we walked down the corridor. I trembled and asked the man, "What was that scream?" The only thing the man did was stare at me.

Ahead of us, I noticed a group of people, one of whom was chained, his hands tied, and being tortured. We walked closer to them. My legs were shaking, and I was scared, thinking that they would torture me as well. When I was in front of them, I saw Jin was the one who was tortured. I was shocked and couldn't utter any words. I dashed over to him to find out what had happened. When I approached Jin, someone grabbed me!

"Hey! Jin, is this your girl?" A man spoke while grabbing my hair.

"Leave her alone! She's not involved in this! She knows nothing!" Jin yelled.

"I know. I just want you to tell me about Mr. Evans' plan and his next move. So I could surpass him. I only want you to tell me who is his next target to conquer and what his method is."

"You can't hear anything from me!" Jin shouted.

Because Jin never mentioned the information that the man required from him. A man grabbed my clothes and tore them apart. I screamed, and a man was laughing and said, "Hahaha! While you don't utter any words about the information I need, I'll enjoy this feast first! Hahaha! Not bad, Jin, your girl is a lot more beautiful than anyone else!"

Jin clenched his fists and struggled to break free from the chain. He couldn't do anything to help me, since he was chained up. "Stop!" he could only yell several times.

While the man was trying to r**e me, I cried and screamed. Then, we heard a gunshot. One of the man's underlings rushed over to us to inform him of the intruders at his hidden base.

"You have your luck today, Jin! We are not done with each other yet!" the man stated. He ran away and said, "Forget who the intruders are! First and foremost, we must flee this situation."

I approached Jin after they had gone. Jin is moaning from the pain of his wounds.

"Mikaella, I'm sorry. They've involved you in this. "Jin said it, his voice trembling and weak, because he was captured and ate nothing for a week.

"Stop talking! Please save your energy. I will heal you first!"

"No! What if someone saw you? You can heal me later. Don't worry about me."

"But you're very weak now! Where's the key to the chain?" I was crying and panicking. I couldn't find the key. Then, suddenly, a gunshot behind my back.
