Heart on the Edge

287 Words
Amara sat on the balcony, rain streaking the glass beside her. The city shimmered like a million tiny flames below, and yet, nothing compared to the fire burning in her chest. She couldn’t ignore it any longer. The ache. The longing. The way her heart divided between two men—both dangerous, both irresistible, both claiming a piece of her that she didn’t even know she could give. Daniel’s calm presence haunted her thoughts. The way he made her feel safe. Wanted. Seen. Loved. Alexander’s intensity burned through her veins. Every glance, every touch, every word left her trembling, on the edge of a desire she couldn’t control. Her phone buzzed. A message from Alexander: I’m outside. I won’t leave until I see you. Her heart skipped. Her pulse raced. She didn’t reply. Instead, she stepped out, letting the night air cling to her skin. He was waiting, rain soaking his jacket, dark hair plastered to his forehead. He looked… human. Vulnerable. Broken. “Amara,” he said quietly. “You’ve been avoiding me.” “I needed space,” she whispered. “To figure out… us. To figure out what I want.” He stepped closer, voice low, dangerous. “And what do you want?” She swallowed, shaking her head. “I… I don’t know. I want safety, but I want fire. I want peace, but I want you.” He exhaled sharply, closing the distance until their foreheads touched. “I don’t know how to give you peace without losing myself,” he admitted. “But I’ll try, if you’ll let me.” Her breath hitched. Every instinct screamed. And for the first time, she realized: she was falling completely—heart and soul.
