Chapter 7 Dylan pushed the end button on the cordless phone and set it on the dresser. It was hard to end the call with all the well wishes echoing in the background of the Lewis house. He hated not being able to send pictures to their family, but the lack of cell reception made it impossible. Thank God they had a landline. He refused to consider what might have happened had Layla not talked him through the delivery. She’d been a godsend, even afterward, when he’d cut the umbilical cord. Now that he had a moment of silence, he planned on spending it with his wife and daughter. Yeah. His wife. In theory, Heaven was his wife, but in reality… Guilt weighed on him.
